Arizona Cardinals vs. Dallas Cowboys Matchup Preview (10/19/20): Betting Odds, Depth Charts, Live Stream (Watch Online)

There is a black cloud hanging over this Cowboys team despite a win last week against the Giants. Dak Prescott suffered a broken ankle and is out for the rest of the year. Dallas made a smart move bringing in a decent backup, as Andy Dalton joined in the offseason. With all the weapons around, Dalton should be able to keep this team afloat. The defense is really the biggest question mark. They are giving up big points week in and week out and that will not get easier this week. DeAndre Hopkins is a mismatch for every secondary player. While Arizona has some question marks around Kyler Murray early on, with the turnover numbers up to start the season. His rushing numbers have masked a bit of the inefficiency on offense. Arizona Cardinals Analysis

Arizona CardinalsArizona is 3-2 but they might be a bit disappointed given they have had a chance to win other games. The easy schedule has certainly played into the start for the Cardinals and they will face another lackluster defense. Kyler Murray is completing 69% of his passes but his adjusted yards are not good. The six interceptions in five have been a bit careless. His 13 total touchdowns both on the ground and passing have been at a solid rate and those numbers will go up with Dallas’ defense being one of the worst in the league. We haven’t really seen a secondary option evolve in the passing game. DeAndre Hopkins has a whopping 53 targets, posting a 45-528-2 line. Christian Kirk has come alive in the last two games, averaging 38 yards per game isn’t pretty. Andy Isabella is starting to see a bit more snaps, after just 14 in each of the first two weeks. He has played over 20 in the last three and has the capability to break out in a big play.

This will be a true test for Arizona’s defense as they will have to match up with one of the elite receiving cores in the game. Playing the Jets and Washington Football Team will certainly help your defensive numbers. While some might consider the job a bit easier with Andy Dalton under center, this is still an offense that should move the ball. Arizona has held opponents to just 20.4 points per game, but 368 yards per game.

Dallas Cowboys Analysis

Dallas CowboysWe will now be watching Andy Dalton lead this team, and he has a better offensive line and weapons around him where you think this offense can still work. Dalton is a guy who had four straight 10+ win seasons in his career before things went sour in Cinncinati. This isn’t the worst scenario to have for Dallas this season. The big issue has been on the defensive side, allowing 36 points per game and 413 yards per game. This has required the Cowboys offense to put up monster numbers, as they have with 502 yards per game and 32.6 points per game on the year so far. Dallas is running the ball well, averaging 4.7 yards per carry and have seven rushing touchdowns but the main focus has been the receiving options.

CeeDee Lamb leads the team in yards, averaging 86 per game, and he is also tied in receiving touchdowns. It has been him and Amari Cooper doing the damage as they are the two with over 400 yards receiving so far this season. Michael Gallup has taken a back seat in targets after being an established WR2 last season. He has the lowest amount of targets out of Lamb, Cooper, Schultz, and Elliott. Cedrick Wilson has also come alive as a downfield threat. They will have an advantage in this one going up against an Arizona secondary that ranks 26th in DVOA against the pass. They allowed 26 and 31 points to the two good quarterbacks they have faced this season.

Betting Corner: Cardinals -2.5

Spread: ARI -2.5
Moneyline: DAL +110 / ARI -130
Over/Under: 54.5

I am curious as to what this line would be with Dak Prescott healthy. But that isn’t the case as we will have Andy Dalton. Dallas is 0-5 ATS this season while the Cardinals are 3-2. No surprise to see Dallas having a strong record on the over given the defense has been so bad and offensively they have been putting up massive numbers. Arizona has had some rough opponents but their offense has been average at times so the over has yet to hit in a game for them. Public money is fairly split on this one, and the under is where the public is hitting harder. This is more due to the Andy Dalton takeover and Cardinals offense being up and down so far. However, I like the over here still and I am on Dallas where they rally around Dalton. Offensively this team can still put up some strong numbers.

Daily Fantasy Picks

hopkinsThis is a great game and having it be Monday with the Chiefs-Bills, there will be a nice two-game slate that will be fun to play. On the Arizona side, they will get to face a Dallas defense that has been allowing plenty of fantasy points. Murray is averaging over 25 points per game this season with a lot of his success coming on the ground. If he struggles to throw this week it will be concerning. Christian Kirk is the GPP play low-owned guy off this one, who has been getting more involved in the last two weeks. DeAndre Hopkins is in the smash spot though. Dallas has allowed 1.8 touchdowns per game to opposing receivers this season and over 30 fantasy points per game. Hopkins has crushed in Arizona so far and has been a target hog.

Andy Dalton will be taking over and this is a good game to start fully on. Arizona has allowed 18 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks this season. While many will think they just hand the ball off for 30 times a game but the defense is still bad and they are going to have to throw the ball. Ezekiel Elliott has been just fine regardless and Elliott gets a solid matchup with the Cardinals allowing 21 FPPG to opposing running backs. Arizona hasn’t faced a lot of good passing offenses but this secondary is still targetable. CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper are the primary fantasy plays at wide receiver, but Dalton Schultz and Michael Gallup still have upside.
