Baltimore Ravens Vs. Arizona Cardinals Player Prop Picks
The Ravens are coming off one of the most impressive, dominant wins of the season in a 38-6 drubbing of the Lions. Their offense was firing on all cylinders, and as they get into their Week 8 game against the Cardinals, they’ll be hoping to keep that recent momentum rolling. Let’s take a look at some interesting player prop selections for this game.
Lamar Jackson Over 231.5 Passing Yards (-115 BetMGM)
The sportsbooks still aren’t properly adjusting to Lamar Jackson’s uptick in passing production in the new-look Todd Monken offense. It was always going to take some time for Jackson to get up to speed in the new system, but it all came together last week as he threw for 357 yards and three touchdowns in the win over the Lions.
Jackson is averaging a career best 8.1 yards per attempt with a 6.5% big-time throw rate per PFF. Defenses must now account for his rushing and his passing, and it puts them in a constant bind whenever he drops back. As a result, he’s top five in the NFL in PFF passing grade, yards per attempt, and big-time throw rate.
This week, Jackson faces a Cardinals defense that will provide an opportunity for him to continue his good form. Arizona ranks 31st in pass defense success rate and DVOA. They’re also dead last in pressure rate as their inability to get after opposing passers has ruined any ability for their secondary to hold up.
Jackson has gone over this passing yardage mark in two of his last three games, but just three of his seven games overall this season. Still, I expect a continued uptick in his passing yards and love this matchup for him to continue to succeed.
Zay Flowers Over 57.5 Receiving Yards (-115 BetMGM)
With Jackson’s passing yardage production continuing to increase, I expect Zay Flowers to continue to succeed. The rookie wide receiver out of Boston College has already impressed this season, and he has 70+ receiving yards in two of his last three games. Overall this season, he’s been over 57.5 yards in four of seven games.
Flowers has played 70.3% of his snaps out wide this season. On the boundary, he’ll he facing the duo of rookie Kei’Trel Clark and second-year pro Marco Wilson. They respectively rank 110th and 121st in PFF coverage grades among 125 qualified qualified cornerbacks. Flowers will have the upper hand in this matchup.
Trey McBride Over 2.5 Receptions
Trey McBride is beginning to break out for the Cardinals in his second season, and with Zach Ertz out for the foreseeable future, the runway is clear for his production to climb. He has an impressive 25% target per route run rate, which ranks fourth among 40 qualified tight ends, and now his routes run will steadily increase.
If you’re betting this McBride prop, you have to understand that this matchup is terrible for him. The Ravens have allowed the third-fewest receiving yards to tight ends this season. However, the Cardinals are 8.5-point underdogs in this matchup, and somebody will need to catch passes when the game heads to garbage time. I believe that will be McBride.
I’d target the receptions prop rather than receiving yards in this one as I’m unsure how efficient McBride will be in this game. Nevertheless, expect his target share to be solid enough to get 3+ catches here.
