Detroit Pistons at Boston Celtics Preview
The Detroit Pistons have struggled this season but they seem to be gaining momentum as they head to the All-Star break. In order to continue their recent success, they’ll have to take on the Boston Celtics on the road tonight.
The Celtics are currently fourth in the Eastern Conference, won their most recent game and are a 7-3 in their last 10 games. Overall, the Celtics are 36-21 on the season. The Pistons are in eighth place in the East with a 26-29 record. They’ve won their last four games and are 6-4 in their last 10 games.
The Celtics will be looking to avenge their December 15 loss to the Pistons tonight. In the 113-104 win over the Celtics, Detroit was led by Blake Griffin, who finished with 27 points. Kyrie Irving scored 26 points for the Celtics in the game. Boston owns the 2-1 regular season series lead over the Pistons.
Boston’s front line of Al Horford and Marcus Morris will be tested by the Pistons big man tandem of Griffin and Andre Drummond, who have been a big reason for the Pistons’ success lately.

Detroit Pistons Starting Lineup
|Bruce Brown Jr.
In their most recent win, a 121-112 victory over the Washington Wizards on Monday, the Pistons jumped on the Wizards early and Griffin and Drummond once again carried the Pistons.
Griffin finished the game with a near triple-double of 31 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists. Drummond added 32 points and 17 rebounds and the pair were more than the Wizards’ Thomas Bryant and Jeff Green could contend with.
“Blake and I have really done a good job of communicating both on and off the court of things we can do to help each other,” Drummond said after the game. “It’s a nightmare for teams. You’ve got to pick your poison. It’s scary when we both get it going.”
The only problem with that is in the case that one of the players does not perform well, Detroit doesn’t seem to have enough help to make up for that. Starters Langston Galloway and Bruce Brown are not high-scorers, but Luke Kennard has shown the ability to come off the bench and provide some scoring punch.
Boston Celtics Starting Lineup
Last night, though, the Celtics managed a win over the new-look Philadelphia 76ers 112-109 to keep them in fourth in the East for the time being.
Terry Rozier, who normally explodes in games where he gets big minutes when Kyrie Irving is out, struggled and he and Marcus Smart combined for just 13 points, but Gordon Hayward had a big game off the bench, finishing with 26 points to lead the Celtics in scoring. Al Horford had 23 points and eight rebounds and Jayson Tatum finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds in the win.
Unfortunately for the Celtics, it was a close game with Philadelphia trying to rally late, so most of their starters played heavy minutes. Brad Stevens will have to try to balance the playing time tonight.
Detroit Pistons at Boston Celtics Betting Odds
