Brice Sensabaugh Scouting Report

Sensabaugh shot the lights out and paced Ohio State in scoring at 16.3 PPG on a 48/40/83 shooting split. He also chipped in 5.4 RPG and 1.2 APG, although he committed two turnovers per game. Sensabaugh will be desired by many franchises for his all-around scoring ability.

Draft Age: 19.7

Height: 6’6”

Wingspan: Unknown

Position: F

Team: Ohio State

Strengths: Sensabaugh is one of the most prolific all-around scorers in this draft. He’s a sniper from three in a catch-and-shoot or off-the-dribble role. He can post up smaller defenders and thrives in the midrange by using his strength, body control, and counters to achieve separation. Plus, he’s a capable ball handler, bruising driver and solid finisher going either direction. Overall, he can score from anywhere on the court in an on or off-ball role. If the draft was solely based on acquiring pure scoring talent, then Sensabaugh would be one of the first names off the board.

Weaknesses: Sensabaugh drops because he is lacking in areas besides scoring. He’s a poor playmaker due to slow processing speed and a tendency to tunnel vision. This subpar processing speed also affected his defense, as Sensabaugh struggled to both stay in front of defenders and read plays off-ball. His weak side rotations in particular were frequently questionable. The NBA today values versatility, so Sensabaugh grading poorly across multiple foundational categories is a concern for his ceiling.

Brice Sensabaugh NBA Comparison

Sensabaugh has shades of Paul Pierce in his game. Both were versatile, effortless scorers that utilized their size to create separation on drives or post ups. Both could operate on or off-ball without diminishing their shooting threat, and avoiding turnovers isn’t a strength for either. Now, Pierce was on an entirely different level than Sensabaugh in terms of creation, passing, and defense, but the template is a solid fit.

Marcus Morris during his Celtics tenure is a more accurate comparison based on projected career trajectory. He was a similar flexible scorer that wasn’t afraid to either back opponents down or rain threes. The playmaking was similar, although Morris’ defense far exceeded Sensabaugh.

Brice Sensabaugh NBA Draft Ranking, Team Fit, Landing Spot

Draft Ranking: Sensabaugh ranks 18th on my Big Board and sits in the sixth tier with names like Jett Howard, Dereck Lively II, and Jordan Hawkins.

Team Fit: His best fit is with the anemic Miami Heat, who ranked 25th in Offensive Rating, 27th in 3PT%, and 21st in ShotQuality’s Adjusted Offensive ShotQuality. Sensabaugh would do wonders for Miami’s spacing and shot making, and they have the defense to help hide him.

Landing Spot: Sensabaugh is probably drafted in the 16-22 range based on his strengths and weaknesses. The Lakers (17th) could use a bench scorer and three-point marksman like Sensabaugh. He would also fit around Lauri Markkanen and Walker Kessler, so Utah (16th) is a candidate to select him. Finally, Brooklyn may snag him with one of their back-to-back picks to add offense to a squad that struggled to score against Philadelphia in the playoffs.
