Brooklyn Nets vs. Memphis Grizzlies Matchup Preview (3/23/22)
Everyone hold onto your horses; Kyrie Irving will be back for his 60-point encore this Wednesday night when the Brooklyn Nets and Memphis Grizzlies duke it out. Irving will see if he can add to his impressive part-time 2022 resume. Unfortunately for the Nets, Irving is still unable to play in home games due to the New York vaccine mandate. Ironically, he can sit courtside with no issues but cannot play in the game. Still, Irving has averaged just shy of 38 points since the All-Star break, which is the most of any other player in the NBA. For this game specifically, Brooklyn needs to focus on the defensive end of the floor because there are no doubts about whether or not it can put up big numbers on offense.
Meanwhile, Memphis still has plenty to play for, as that potential second-round matchup with Golden State could be a nail-biter. Home court advantage can mean everything in the playoffs. Unfortunately, the Grizzlies will have to try and grab this win without Ja Morant, who is still dealing with an injury. For further information on this game, check under the betting odds section and the team analysis sections to see who I think will win this game. There is also information about their potential playoff outlooks, too, so don’t miss it!
Brooklyn Nets vs. Memphis Grizzlies Betting Odds
It pains me to do this, but I will have to go with the Brooklyn Nets against the spread in this matchup versus Memphis. There is no denying how well Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant have played together recently, especially after Irving got into a bit of a groove. Regardless of how well the Memphis Grizzlies have played without Ja Morant, it is still undeniable how important he is to that team. Morant’s absence makes it a bit more difficult for the Grizzlies to keep up offensively with these Nets. For the point total, I will be staying off of it entirely. I think it is placed perfectly for this matchup between two teams that can fill it up at a high level, and I will never jump on a point total for no reason.

Brooklyn Nets Starting Lineup
PG: Kyrie Irving

PF: Kevin Durant
C: Andre Drummond
Brooklyn Nets Analysis
It is another road game for the Brooklyn Nets, so they will have the luxury of having star point guard Kyrie Irving available. In two of his past four games, Irving has amassed point totals of 50 and 60 points, despite having arguably the greatest scorer to ever live in Kevin Durant on his team. Astonishingly, this is not still being talked about more, but I digress. The Nets have won six of their past seven games, with their only loss coming to the Dallas Mavericks by two points. Additionally, that game was at home, which means that Kyrie Irving was not available. There is still uncertainty surrounding Irving’s availability for home games during the playoffs. If Brooklyn wants any shot at beating a No. 1 or No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference, it will need Irving full time, not just on the road. For this matchup, though, the Nets will have Irving and Durant, so expect an offensive clinic from them.
Memphis Grizzlies Starting Lineup
PG: Ja Morant
SG: Desmond Bane
SF: Dillon Brooks
PF: Jaren Jackson Jr.
C: Steven Adams
Memphis Grizzlies Analysis
Memphis still has plenty to play for, as a home-court advantage in the second round is up for grabs. That may mean the difference between whether Golden State or Memphis advances to the Western Conference Finals, considering the small gap between the two teams. The Grizzlies are winners of five of their past six games, including wins over the New Orleans Pelicans, New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Indiana Pacers, and Houston Rockets. That may not seem impressive, considering those are all teams under .500; however, Ja Morant was unavailable for the past two wins.
Brooklyn Nets vs. Memphis Grizzlies Daily Fantasy Picks
Imagine if I suggested any player besides Kyrie Irving for your DFS lineup at this point; it would be ridiculous, right? Irving dropped 60 points in his last game for the Brooklyn Nets and 50 points a few games before. He has played surprisingly well in that part-time role that has been carved out for him due to his inability to play in home games. Irving is one of the most prolific scorers in the NBA today and in the history of the game. If we see anything close to what he has been doing recently, I expect another scoring outburst.
If you are looking at any Memphis Grizzlies players in DFS, I would suggest Dillon Brooks or Desmond Bane. Brooks has finally returned after injuring his ankle months ago, and he has hardly skipped a beat. Brooks posted 20 points on 8-for-18 from the field in his last game and 2-for-5 from behind the arc. Additionally, he was able to pull down four rebounds and get three steals against the Houston Rockets on Sunday. Brooks has become an integral part of the Grizzlies’ roster and their success. What is also promising is how well he meshes with the rest of the team, including newcomer Desmond Bane, who has blended in terrifically with the culture that has been established there. Bane has played exceptionally well in his past eight games, posting averages of 21 points, five rebounds, and four assists on a ridiculous shooting split of 49/47/87. His averages on the season are not this pretty impressive, but still very solid for a second-year player who almost dropped out of the first round of the NBA Draft.
