Brooklyn Nets vs. Miami Heat Matchup Preview (3/26/22)

The Miami Heat will host the second night of a back-to-back in FTX Arena against the Brooklyn Nets, who are now missing only Ben Simmons since Kyrie Irving was officially cleared to play in home games. It has been a successful season for the Miami Heat, despite having several injuries for over half of the season. Regardless of those struggles, Miami still stands at first place in the Eastern Conference and now has virtually everyone healthy! Unfortunately, there has been a bit of turbulence in Miami after an altercation between Jimmy Butler, Erik Spoelstra, and Udonis Haslem during its game against the Golden State Warriors. The Heat will be just fine come playoff time because everyone on that team wants to win! Brooklyn is another team in great shape; Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant have been terrific. Kyrie Irving has posted 40+ point, 50+ point, and 60+ point games in just the last month, despite only being available for a portion of the games. Once Ben Simmons can play again, watch out for the Nets. They could knock off several top seeds, if everyone is healthy, and make a run at an NBA Championship!

Brooklyn Nets vs. Miami Heat Betting Odds

Miami is still working out some internal issues, and I doubt that it all gets entirely resolved by this game. The Heat have struggled recently, dropping four of their past seven, while Brooklyn has won four of its past six. The only losses during that stretch for the Nets were against the Dallas Mavericks and Memphis Grizzlies, which are very forgivable. It should be a close game, but I think Brooklyn squeaks it out in the end.

Brooklyn Nets Starting Lineup

PG: Kyrie Irving
SG: Seth Curry
SF: Bruce Brown Jr.
PF: Kevin Durant
C: Andre Drummond

Brooklyn Nets Analysis

The Brooklyn Nets are almost at full strength; they are just awaiting Ben Simmons’ return to the lineup, which has been postponed due to a lingering back injury. Simmons received an epidural injection in his back a week ago, and Brooklyn still has optimism towards his return at some point this season, which would make the Nets incredibly difficult to beat! What also makes the Nets a formidable opponent is that Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are two of the best scorers we have ever seen, and they are performing at an insanely high level right now. This is doubly the case for Irving, who has averaged close to 44 points, six assists, and four rebounds in his past four games. The efficiency in which he has put up these numbers has been remarkable as well. With Irving and Durant playing at this level, the Nets become one of the most dangerous teams in the playoffs, especially as a No. 7 or No. 8 seed in a competitive Eastern Conference.

Miami Heat Starting Lineup

PG: Kyle Lowry
SG: Jimmy Butler
SF: P.J. Tucker
PF: Duncan Robinson
C: Bam Adebayo

Miami Heat Analysis

Is there any way that I can get through this entire section without mentioning the argument between head coach Erik Spoelstra and Jimmy Butler that resulted in Udonis Haslem and Butler needing to be separated? The answer to that is a resounding no; however, it is better to get it out of the way early. There are plenty of teams in the history of sports that have had this tension and still found a way to win, so I’m not nearly as concerned as some people are. Accountability and tenacity have been the foundation for the Heat’s culture, so perhaps this was the air being cleared a bit. This could have stemmed from their recent struggles, having dropped four of their past seven games, including losses to the Golden State Warriors, Phoenix Suns, Philadelphia 76ers, and Minnesota Timberwolves. Hopefully, this is just a slight slump the Heat get out of before the start of the playoffs. As long as everyone is focused on winning, then there should not be much of a problem in the long term.

Brooklyn Nets vs. Miami Heat Daily Fantasy Picks

There is no other direction for you to go in DFS besides plugging Kyrie Irving into your lineups. Irving is on an all-time heater, posting 40, 50, and even 60 point games with regularity. Irving averaged 44 points, six assists, four rebounds, and two steals in his past four games while shooting 62% from the field and 61% from behind the arc. These hot streaks are rare, especially throughout a handful of games, but Irving is an exception to the rule. Kyrie is widely regarded as one of the best shot-creators and shot-makers in the history of the NBA, and objectivity forces us to ignore some of his eccentric behavior and recognize that we are witnessing greatness.

Kyle Lowry has not blown away NBA fans, players, and organizations with his stats this season; however, he has done exactly what this team needs to succeed and have a championship shot. Additionally, Lowry has missed several games this season, like most Heat players, so momentum is another factor to consider. With all that being said, Lowry has played terrifically of recent, averaging close to 21 points, six assists, and four rebounds on 61% from the field and 59% from deep in his past three games. While that is a small sample size, it does give us some insight into how efficiently he has played over the past week or two. Lowry’s salary is modest for a starting point guard on one of the NBA’s best teams. I would consider starting Lowry in a DFS lineup if you already have a costly player like Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Ja Morant, or LeBron James.
