Bryant vs Wright State Betting Odds

Peter Kiss took his Bryant Bulldogs to new heights in March. He dropped 24 points, 16 points, and 34 points in Bryant’s three NEC Tournament games, leading the Bulldogs to three wins and a chance to go dancing.

With this latest run, Kiss finished the season averaging just over 25 points per game, which earned him this season’s college hoops scoring title.

But Wright State will be an interesting matchup for Bryant. The Horizon League champs have a true big-three between Tanner Holden, Grant Basile, and Trey Calvin – the three combine to average over 40 points per game.

This First Four battle will feature a myriad of mid-major scoring stars. Which one carries his squad to a victory and a chance to play Arizona?

Bryant Bulldogs Odds

Kiss has been waiting for this moment his whole career.

The fifth-year senior made his way to Bryant by way Quinnipiac and Rutgers. This season, he took 36.3% of Bryant’s available shots, which was fifth among all D-I players. He was high-usage and helped his Bulldogs lead the NEC in offensive efficiency.

Now, he’ll get a chance to send Bryant to the Field of 64 for the first time ever.

Bryant is a rocket ship. The Bulldogs play at the seventh-fastest tempo nationally, averaging well over 70 possessions per game. The Bulldogs just need to avoid mistakes, because the team did finish sub-225 nationally in offensive turnover percentage.

Defensively, coach Jared Grasso will not pressure the ball. The Bulldogs were good contesting shots, but good-enough ball-handlers will be able to work their way through the defense.

Wright State Raiders Odds

Wright State’s offense carried the Raiders to the Horizon title.

The Raiders led the conference in offensive efficiency, performing especially well in post-up situations, pick-and-roll sets, and finishing at the rim.

Of course, it’s easy to be efficient when you have Holden, Basille, and Calvin running the offense on the interior. Those three are dangerous effective in the above situations and very efficient in getting shots up in near proximity to the rim.

And those guys crashed the offensive boards, too. The Raiders were top-15 nationally in producing potential second-chance points off misses, pulling down offensive rebounds at the third-highest rate in the Horizon.

Defensively, it wasn’t very pretty for Wright State. But the Raiders trended up all season and are due for some serious positive regression on that end, as they were great at producing low-quality shots in conference play.

Bryant vs Wright State Prediction and Pick

The pace in this game is going to be lightning quick. These two are going to run up and down the floor over and over, and both will be very efficient when getting shots up.

I don’t trust either team’s defense. Wright State trended up this season, but I don’t know who is going to match up with Kiss, especially on the biggest stage of Kiss’ career.

Four straight games for Bryant have gone under, but I believe that’s deflated the market a bit. This total opened at 153 and has quickly taken sharp money, pushing it up to around 155.

I love this game to blow past the listed total, and I am willing to bet the over up to 156.
