Champ Week College Football Power Rankings

Championship Week brought us another wild weekend of college football. Oklahoma and Baylor went into overtime, LSU proved they deserve to be the number one seed in college football, and Wisconsin almost pulled off an upset over Ohio State. Here are this weeks College Football Power Rankings.

1. LSU 13-0

Last Week: Win vs. Georgia 37-10
Bowl Game: College Football Playoff vs. Oklahoma

LSU looked dominant in their win against Georgia. There’s arguing on the internet (shock) whether or not they deserved to leap Ohio State for number one, and they did after their win over the Bulldogs. Now they avoid Clemson.

2. Ohio State 13-0

Last Week: Win vs. Wisconsin 34-21
Bowl Game: College Football Playoff vs. Clemson

Ohio State started off the Big Ten Championship Game very slow. They figured it out in the second half as they beat the Badgers 34-21. They feel from one to two with their performance, and will see Clemson in the semi-finals.

3. Clemson 13-0

Last Week: Win vs. Virginia 62-17
Bowl Game: College Football Playoff vs. Ohio State

People were talking about how Clemson should be left out if they lose to Virginia. Well, not only did they win, but it wasn’t even close. Although Clemson is number three in the power rankings, they might be the best team in the country.

4. Oklahoma 12-1

Last Week: Win vs. Baylor 30-23 OT
Bowl Game: College Football Playoff vs. LSU

The Sooners won a sloppy Big 12 Championship Game in overtime. They received the fourth spot after Utah lost on Friday night. Now, they have to go up against LSU in the opening game of the College Football Playoff.

5. Georgia 11-2

Last Week: Loss vs. LSU 37-10
Bowl Game: Allstate Sugar Bowl vs. Baylor

Georgia wasn’t even close to pulling off the upset over LSU on Saturday. They were without three of their top receivers at one point, and lost Jake Fromm for a little bit as well. This just wasn’t the Bulldogs day, but are still in a New Year’s Six Bowl.

6. Oregon 11-2

Last Week: Win vs. Utah 37-15
Bowl Game: Rose Bowl vs. Wisconsin

The Ducks knock off the Utes in the Pac-12 Championship Game. They help kept them out of the College Football Playoff and will play in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day. Imagine if they didn’t lose to Arizona State.

Last Week: Bye
Bowl Game: VRBO Citrus Bowl vs. Michigan

No game for Alabama, but they found out they will be in the VRBO Citrus Bowl against Michigan.

8. Utah 11-2

Last Week: Loss vs. Oregon 37-15
Bowl Game: Valero Alamo Bowl

Utah failed to get into the College Football Playoff after they fell to Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship Game.

9. Florida 10-2

Last Week: Bye
Bowl Game: Capital One Orange Bowl vs. Virginia

The Gators will be taking on Virginia in the Orange Bowl. Sort of unfair they have to play Virginia honestly.

Next Week: Camping World Bowl vs. Iowa State

Will Brian Kelly’s revenge tour to save his job from Urban Meyer continue against Iowa State?

11. Wisconsin 10-3

Last Week: Loss vs. Ohio State 34-21
Next Week: Rose Bowl vs. Oregon

America was pulling for Wisconsin to finish off the upset against Ohio State. Up 21-7 at halftime, the ended up falling to the Buckeyes.

12. Baylor 11-2

Last Week: Loss vs. Oklahoma 30-23 OT
Next Week: Allstate Sugar Bowl vs. Georgia

Baylor almost knocked off Oklahoma with a third string quarterback on Saturday. All in all, the Big 12 Championship Game was sloppy, and the Bears needed turnover luck to even get it to overtime.

Auburn is matched up with a tough task going up against a PJ Fleck Minnesota squad. How motivated will they be?

PJ Fleck will have this team ready to play in the Outback Bowl this season. He’ll want to show the country how good Minnesota will be against an SEC opponent.

The Nittany Lions will take on Memphis in the Cotton Bowl. Another team that is questionable to be motivated.

Next Week: Mitsubishi Motors Las Vegas Bowl vs. Washington

Boise State knocked off the Rainbow Warriors in the Mountain West Championship Game on Saturday. They’ll now be able to take on a Washington team that’s been disappointing all season.

Next Week: Goodyear Cotton Bowl vs. Penn State

Memphis beat Cincinnati back to back to head to a New Year’s Six Bowl. The Tigers have a fun team to watch and will be able to prove it in the Cotton Bowl.

Next Week: VRBO Citrus Bowl vs. Alabama

Jim Harbaugh and Nick Saban will be a fun coaching matchup to watch in the Citrus Bowl.

19. Iowa State 7-5

Next Week: Camping World Bowl vs. Notre Dame

The Cyclone get Notre Dame in the Camping World Bowl. Maybe Brian Kelly will be nice to them based on how the Irish have been playing down the stretch.

Next Week: San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl vs. USC

The Hawkeyes head west for their bowl game. They’ll get the Trojans in San Diego.

The Aggies should be able to take care of Oklahoma State considering the gauntlet of a schedule they had this year.

Next Week: Ticketmaster Birmingham Bowl vs. Boston College

The Bearcats couldn’t get it done in Memphis two weeks in a row. Their turnover luck ran out and now face Boston College in the Birmingham Bowl.
