Dallas Cowboys vs. Minnesota Vikings Matchup Preview (11/22/20): Betting Odds, Depth Charts, Live Stream (Watch Online)

With the expanded playoffs this season, Minnesota is now knocking on the door despite being 4-5. They are one game behind the 8th seed and have won three straight. Dallas on the other hand is coming off a bye and ever since the Dak Prescott injury, the team has fallen apart. They are 2-7 and weirdly still in contention for the division, because the whole division is a mess. Minnesota is a touchdown favorite in this one and that should be to nobody’s surprise. Dalvin Cook continues his strong season and will face a mediocre Dallas defense, and the same goes for rookie Justin Jefferson to keep up his league debut. Dallas Cowboys Analysis

Dallas CowboysDallas has really struggled this season and we know why. It isn’t to anybody’s surprise that losing a star quarterback is going to make your team not as good, but the offensive line injuries and rebuilding defense have all added into this melting pot of mediocrity. Andy Dalton should be back this week, but if the offensive line can’t improve, it won’t matter much. We have also seen this have an effect on Ezekiel Elliott’s game, as he rushes for 3.8 yards per carry, and just 63 yards per game. But overall Elliott has cost his team with three fumbles. Tony Pollard has had a few big breakout runs and has shown he has zero issue right now. Pollard is a very good back and sitting behind Elliott is a bit of a bummer. Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, and Michael Gallup have seen their production come to a bit of a halt, but Cooper still has 83 targets in nine games and can be an x-factor this week against the Vikings secondary.

The Dallas defense is allowing 28.8 points per game this season and 391 yards per game. They are getting gashed on the ground for five yards per carry and now have to face Dalvin Cook. Good luck with that. They are also allowing 7.2 yards per attempt and have allowed 21 passing touchdowns. While the Viking offense struggled out of the gates, things are clicking lately. It will be a tough task to slow down this unit and my money is on them struggling again.

Minnesota Vikings Analysis

Minnesota VikingsMinnesota has won three straight and are now fighting for a playoff spot. They are averaging 26.2 points per game and doing a lot of their damage on the ground with Dalvin Cook. He has averaged 5.5 yards per carry this season and is averaging 119 yards per game. He also has a whopping 12 rushing touchdowns. As mentioned above, Cook has a prime matchup this week to cross the 1,000-yard mark and have another multi-touchdown game. As for the passing offense, it is pretty two-dimensional with Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson leading the way. Jefferson has a 42-762-3 line on 54 targets this season and Adam Thielen has a 41-523-9 line. No other tight end, running back, or receiver has over 300 yards through the air or over 30 targets.

Defensively the Vikings have struggled a bit this season although a few lesser offenses have helped them improve lately. They are allowing 24.7 points per game and have struggled through the air allowing 19 touchdowns and 267 yards per game. On the ground, they have been better of late, but still, there is room for improvement. They face the Cowboys trio of strong wide receivers this week which is a lot more than what they have faced over the last few weeks with the Lions and Bears.

The Cowboys are coming off of a bye this week and should have Andy Dalton back. This will be a telling game if they have some of their offense straightened out because I think the defense is still not going to be good because of the personnel. Minnesota is certainly in the better spot and is now 6-3 ATS despite the 4-5 record, which is building after some strong weeks. Minnesota should have a strong day offensively which helps out  Public money is on Minnesota this week and this is where sometimes I take a look at the other side but the Cowboys are in such a rough spot.

Daily Fantasy Picks

This is a game that sets up well for fantasy purposes as two average at best defenses step into this one. On the Vikings side, it is hard not to look at Dalvin Cook, who has been a man amongst boys. Cook has a 15.4 fantasy point floor over the last ten games so he is a pretty safe play and Minnesota are touchdowns favorites at home. Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson also face a pedestrian secondary and this is a great spot for both. Thielen is coming off a multi-touchdown game but Jefferson continues to rack up major yards. On the Dallas side, Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup are interesting dart throws in tournaments this week with the Vikings bottom-five in fantasy points allowed to opposing wide receivers. Ezekiel Elliott is an interesting option with the Vikings allowing 135 yards per game and 20.3 fantasy points per game.
