Denver Nuggets vs. New York Knicks 01/01/19: Starting Lineups, Matchup Breakdown, Odds, Daily Fantasy, Betting
Denver Nuggets vs. New York Knicks Preview
The Denver Nuggets (23-11) and New York Knicks (9-29) are in two very different places as they start of 2019 facing off against each other. The Nuggets are in the midst of a two-game winning streak and looking for their third straight as they host the Knicks tonight.
Denver has a slight lead atop the Western Conference. The Knicks are hanging onto a one-game lead over Cleveland for the worst record in the East. They have won just one of their last 10 games and are on a seven-game losing streak.
This is the first game of the season series, with the Nuggets taking a 130-118 win over New York last season in their last meeting. Two players that have been sidelined this season led their teams last year as Gary Harris led Denver with 23 points and Kristaps Porzingis had 21 for New York.

Denver Nuggets Starting Lineup
The Denver Nuggets have really not had a fully healthy team all year, so the fact that they’ve been able to remain at or near the top of the Western Conference speaks volumes about how good this team really could be. They split two games with the San Antonio Spurs last week and then got past the Phoenix Suns 122-118 on Saturday.
Paul Millsap returned to the lineup and played limited minutes, and he should start seeing more minutes as they bring him back slowly. As for Gary Harris and Will Barton, apparently, they are close to returning as well, with Harris listed as questionable tonight.
Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray have become a potent one-two punch, and although Murray is dealing with a sore ankle, he put up 46 points, eight assists and six rebounds on the Suns. Malik Beasley, Monte Morris, and Juan Hernangomez have also played bigger roles as the Nuggets have battled the injury bug.

The New York Knicks are looking like the Knicks we’ve come to know over the last decade. Even with new coach David Fizdale, winning just nine games all season doesn’t do much to help a fanbase or help things in the locker room.
On Saturday, the Knicks suffered an embarrassing 32-point loss to, of all teams, the Utah Jazz, who have struggled to break .500 this season.
The Knicks have tried plugging in different pieces. Trading for Emmanuel Mudiay seemed to be a step in the right direction, but as long as Kristasps Porzingis isn’t suiting up, the Knicks don’t have a single superstar suiting up in the orange and blue.
The fact that Frank Ntilikina hasn’t taken the next step in his sophomore campaign and that Enes Kanter looks ready to leave New York doesn’t help matters either. The Knicks will have to put aside all of that against a team far more dangerous at this point than Utah.
Denver Nuggets vs. New York Knicks Betting Odds
To no surprise, the Nuggets are heavy favorites tonight. They are -13.5 point favorites to win at home and extend their streak. The over/under is set at 219 points. The moneyline is live at -1400 for Denver and +750 for New York.
The Nuggets are 85-55 at home and 87-46 as the favorite. New York is 41-103 on the road and 59-150 as the underdog.

DraftKings & FanDuel Fantasy Picks
The Knicks don’t have a true fantasy stud type of player, so let’s go with Mudiay ($5.7k) as both the stud and fantasy value. Mudiay will be playing his first game against his old team and is projected for 33.91 points on FanDuel.
Nikola Jokic ($9.9k) is the Nuggets’ stud pick. He’s expected to follow a 54.10 point performance against Phoenix with 43.1 points against the Knicks tonight. Millsap is likely to see more time tonight, and Harris is questionable, but the safer bet for a value pick for the Nuggets is Hernangomez ($5.6k). Fan Duel projects him to finish with 25.22 points.
