Detroit Pistons at Miami Heat 3/13/19: Starting Lineups, Matchup Preview, Betting Odds
Detroit Pistons at. Miami Heat Preview
If the Miami Heat want to keep their spot in the playoff race and possibly even avoid a first-round matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks, a win at home tonight over the Detroit Pistons might help with both.
The Heat are 31-35 on the season. They are 5-5 in their last 10 games and have lost their most recent game. They are currently in eighth place in the Eastern Conference but are just one game ahead of the Orlando Magic. The Pistons have a three-game advantage over the Heat for seventh place. They have a 34-32 record, are 8-2 in their last ten and also lost their last game.
In the last matchup between the Pistons and Heat, Detroit cruised to a 119-96 win on February 23, The Pistons were led by Ish Smith, who finished with 22 points and nine assists, while Heat swingman Josh Richardson scored 22.

Pistons Analysis
The Detroit Pistons’ five-game winning streak came to an end on Monday against the Brooklyn Nets.
The Pistons had been riding high after a blowout win of the Chicago Bulls, but they also had a big win over the Toronto Raptors. The team that put up 131 points on the Chicago Bulls didn’t look like the same time that managed just 75 against the Nets.
“If we’re serious about making the playoffs, we have to come out and not believe all the hype and all the stuff,” Pistons coach Dwayne Casey said. “We didn’t come out and play. I didn’t coach physical enough or whatever. We didn’t play physical enough. We took a full step back.”
The Nets jumped on the Pistons early, outscoring them 61-35 in the first half as seven Nets players notched double figures. For the Pistons, only two players reached double figures, with Andre Drummond finishing with 13 points and 20 rebounds, and Blake Griffin adding 10 points and seven rebounds.
Pistons reserve guard Luke Kennard had been on a tear for the Pistons, scoring 10 or more points in nine of his last 11 points, but he struggled against the Nets, knocking down just one of his seven attempts and making none of his three attempts from beyond the arch.

Heat Analysis
Like the Pistons, the Miami Heat were also on a winning streak, winning four straight until they lost to the second place Toronto Raptors 104-125 on Sunday.
The Raptors were without Kawhi Leonard, but the Raptors seemed to knock down just about every three-pointer they attempted, making a franchise-record 21.
“This is one of the top teams in the East for a reason, even without Kawhi,” Heat guard Justise Winslow said. “They’re super solid defensively. Hats off to them. They beat us fair and square.”
The Heat were led by Bam Adebayo’s 19 points, and Dion Waiters added 15 points. Like he’s done all season, Dwyane Wade had a big night off the bench, scoring 15 points.
While this has been a career year for Heat guard/forward Josh Richardson, he has been inconsistent at times this season. After scoring 20 against the Cavs on Friday, he was 3-of-10 from the field and 0-0f-3 from deep for just eight points against the Heat.
