New York’s success this season, begins in goal with Igor Shesterkin.  The Rangers netminder has won 10 of his last 11 starts.  On the season, he’s 23-5-2 with a .938 save percentage (second in the league) and a 2.05 GAA (third in the NHL).  Shesterkin is currently the favorite to win the Vezina Trophy at +175 and +2000 to win the Hart Trophy.

Detroit Red Wings Vs. New York Rangers Picks & Prediction

Detroit is scoring 2.8 goals per game, 20th in the league and taking 29.3 shots per game, 27th overall.  Defensively the Red Wings are allowing 3.5 goals per game, ranked 27th overall in the league.  New York is scoring three goals per game, ranking them 15th in the NHL and attempting 28.6 shots per game, 29th overall.  On the defensive side, the Rangers are allowing 2.5 goals per game which ranks fourth in the NHL and yielding 32 shots a game, 20th overall.

Dylan Larkin is an underrated and Detroit’s only consistent offensive weapon.  Defensively the Rangers led by goalie Igor Shesterkin along with defensemen Jacob Trouba and Adam Fox have played well this season and is the main reason the Rangers are dark horse Stanley Cup favorites.  I’m going with New York to win this game and for under 5.5 combined goals scored in this meeting between two Original Six teams.
