Prediction

This game pits the highest scoring team in the league the Florida Panthers and the team that yields the least number of goals per game in the Carolina Hurricanes.  Florida is scoring 4.1 goals per game, first in the league and taking 36.6 shots per game, first overall.  Defensively the Panthers are allowing 2.9 goals per game, ranked 18th overall in the league.  Carolina is scoring 3.5 goals per game, ranking them sixth in the NHL and attempting 33.5 shots per game, 10th overall.  On the defensive side, the Hurricanes are allowing 2.4 goals per game which ranks first in the NHL and allowing 28.5 shots per game, second overall.

The Panthers are playing fantastic hockey with one of the best scorers in the NHL, Jonathan Huberdeau and one of the top defensemen in the league, Aaron Ekbland playing at the top of their game.  But, with the Hurricanes playing their first home in 17 games, the players and their raucous fans will certainly be happy to be playing in North Carolina.  Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov are two of the most dangerous forwards in the NHL while the defense is the best in the NHL.  I’m going with Carolina and under 6.5 combined goals scored in this game.
