Georgia Tech Vs. Clemson Prediction
No better time to buy the Clemson stock than when they are 5-4 with no chance of making the conference championship or playoffs. Jokes aside, Dabo does have a point in that the Clemson Tigers are finally starting to show some sort of elite production, especially on the offensive end as that has been their own undoing three quarters into the season. Even with Cade Klubnik continuing to struggle, stud running back Phil Mafah had no trouble leading the charge against a stout Notre Dame defense.
That same high level of rushing production should have no issue showing up again as the Georgia Tech defense mightily struggles at containing it. The Yellow Jackets currently rank 115th in Def Rush PPA, 117th in Def Rush Success Rate, and 67th in Def Rush Explosiveness. Under Mafah, the Tigers get a true bull back as opposed to their more skilled pass catching back in Will Shipley. Speaking of Shipley, he is currently listed as probable on the Tigers injury report after suffering a concussion.
Should he return, the Tigers would be wise to at least split duties and use Shipley in more pass sets rather than in the run. With Mafah being in a position to bulldoze the defense, this should open up the field for Cade Klubnik to finally sling it at a productive rate. Klubnik has been one of the more disappointing quarterbacks in the nation in comparison to their preseason hype, failing to stretch the field with his downfield throwing and relying on quick outs to minimal success.
Their metrics echo that sentiment as the Tigers currently rank 46th in Pass Success Rate and 132nd in Pass Explosiveness. Even amidst his struggles, Klubnik is in as good a position as any to capitalize on a weak Yellow Jacket secondary as they clock in at 89th in Def Pass Success Rate, 94th in Def Pass PPA, and 71st in Def Pass Explosiveness. This low-level defense should allow the Tigers to routinely get into scoring position, capitalizing on the Yellow Jackets 77th ranked Def Points per Opportunity metric.
As for the Yellow Jackets, their offense has been a shocking sight to see as they run the most explosive offense and at a successful rate in the mid field and red zone. They are more than capable of doing their part to the over by taking advantage of the Tigers inability to limit the big gain as they rank 110th in Def Rush Explosiveness and 63rd in Def Points per Opportunity.
Georgia Tech Vs. Clemson Prediction: Over 55.5
Georgia Tech Vs. Clemson Best Odds
Even with the Yellow Jackets being able to match the Tigers scoring pace, oddsmakers still have this as Clemson’s game to lose by opening them as a -14 favorite. Bettors believe that number opened a tad too low, backing the Tigers up to -15 in some shops. Defensive consistency favors the Tigers, potentially being the difference in covering a two-score spread.
Speaking of defense, that area of the game may be optional as oddsmakers believe points will be scored at a quick pace by opening the number at 51.5. Bettors were quick to back the over, taking it up to as high as 55.6 as of writing. This current total sits right below the key number of 56, making this a play for at least half a unit.

Can Haynes King move the ball down the field against the Tigers secondary?
Haynes King Vs. Clemson Secondary
It won’t be enough for the Yellow Jackets to run the ball over the Tigers front seven, they will need help from their pass attack in order to stretch out the defense. Haynes King has flashed an ability to do just that, leading the Yellow Jackets to metrics of 50th in Pass Success Rate and seventh in Pass Explosiveness.
G Tech has some talent. A highly rated transfer receiver from Georgia & their QB Haynes King got some size, speed, & a pretty good arm. He was a decently rated recruit coming out of high school. Might be a tough matchup. They look weird not running the triple option though lol pic.twitter.com/W96TvlxXXq

That makes for an intriguing battle against an elite Clemson pass defense, a unit that has thrived in negating the pass. But with Clemson’s front seven poised to struggle defending the run, Clemson may opt into stacking the box and creating gaps in their coverage in the process.
