Golden State Warriors vs. Chicago Bulls Matchup Preview (1/14/22)
The Golden State Warriors will take the short trip from Milwaukee to Chicago to take on the Bulls in their second game of a back-to-back. Klay Thompson will not be playing in this game as the Warriors try to work him back into consistent minutes. He has played 20 minutes very consistently for Golden State since coming back this past Sunday, so clearly, the Warriors are not in a rush (nor should they be.) The Warriors got dusted by Milwaukee on the road, and it’s clear that not having Draymond Green is a game-changer. Meanwhile, Chicago was also blown out, except at home against the fully loaded Brooklyn Nets. They will be looking to bounce back and stay hot in this one, and I don’t see Chicago dropping another game at home, especially to a tired and struggling Warriors squad.
Golden State Warriors vs. Chicago Bulls Betting Odds
I hate betting against the Golden State Warriors, but a few things are evident to me for this matchup. First, Steph Curry is tired, and it is showing in his shooting. Curry consistently plays many minutes and does not get rest days often. Additionally, the Warriors are in a slump as they have dropped two straight games, including the most recent debacle in Milwaukee. Head coach Steve Kerr recognizes that the Warriors are in a slump and understands that this happens to almost every team at some point. While Golden State is not accustomed to dropping back-to-back games, or even three in a row, it is bound to happen. Lastly, the loss of Draymond Green is too much to ignore. Green does not have a significant injury, which is excellent news for the Warriors, but they will continue to struggle as they wait for his return. It also hurts not having Klay Thompson and Gary Payton II, who has also been ruled out for Friday’s game. All of this spells out a Bulls win at home, especially after being embarrassed on their home floor in their last game to the Brooklyn Nets. Take the Bulls ATS at -3.5.

Golden State Warriors Analysis
When your head coach acknowledges that you are in a slump, then you are in a slump. This is exactly what head coach Steve Kerr did when the Warriors got blown out by the Bucks in Fiserv Forum on Thursday night. Golden State struggled from the jump, giving up 37 first-quarter points to Milwaukee while barely posting 21. It was all downhill from there. What is abundantly clear, and has been for years, is that Draymond Green is an exceptionally valuable player in the NBA. Even though you don’t always see it on the stat sheet, Green is impactful on both sides of the ball. Few players play in a 4-on-3 situation offensively better than Green, who often will set a screen for Curry, roll to the middle, and make a play for himself or others. He is also enormous on the defensive end and sets the tone for everyone to always play their hardest. It will be a struggle in Chicago, but when Green returns, look out.

Chicago Bulls Analysis
The past few games have been funky for the Chicago Bulls; they failed to score 100 points against the Mavericks for the first time in nearly a month, then blew out the Detroit Pistons by a massive 46 points. Lastly, they got dusted at home by the healthy Brooklyn Nets. Luckily, I don’t see the Bulls dropping another one to the Warriors. Every team has rough patches at some point during a season, but what matters is how long you let it last. The Bulls have plenty of experienced veterans on their team who know how to turn the ship around when things are going the wrong way. An area of improvement for Chicago to help it get out of this 1-2 stretch is defense. The Bulls rank poorly in opponent 3P% (three-point percentage) and average in all other key defensive statistics. Hopefully, this game will jump-start another hot streak.
Golden State Warriors vs. Chicago Bulls Daily Fantasy Picks
It has been challenging for DFS players regarding the Chicago Bulls recently. In the past three games, LaVine has averaged 17.3 points in his past three, while DeMar DeRozan has averaged 19.7 points in that span. Essentially, if you have elected to go with either of the Bulls’ superstars against the Nets, Pistons, or Mavericks, then you would have been very disappointed. With all of that being said, one bright spot for the Bulls in the past few games has been Coby White, who has started five of the past 11 games. White averages 11.7 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists on the season; however, he has been an exceptional player off the bench for Chicago recently. In his past 11 games, White has averaged 16.9 points, 3.1 assists, and 2.6 rebounds per game with an exceptional shooting split of 53/49/86. White has been one of the only consistent Bulls players recently, and his offensive output far outweighs his current DFS salary, so stick White in your lineup more consistently.
If you need a utility player during this slate of games, Otto Porter Jr could be a valuable player for you. Draymond Green has missed several consecutive games to a calf injury, which has forced Otto Porter Jr into more minutes. Porter averages 8.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game for the Warriors this season. Even with a zero-point game against the Denver Nuggets, Porter has averaged 9.9 points, six rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.7 steals in his past nine games. Those numbers would be higher, too, had he not gone for a goose egg against the Nuggets. In those nine games, Porter Jr has had games of 19 points, and 20 points; therefore, just shy of 25% of those games became big games for him. He’s a terrific rebounder, so if he pairs 19 or 20 points with nine or ten rebounds, then he could give you a significant advantage in your lineup as most DFS players will not play him.
