Golden State Warriors vs Los Angeles Clippers 3/11/21: Starting Lineups, Matchup Preview, Betting Odds

Golden State Warriors vs. Los Angeles Clippers Matchup Preview

Both teams are back from the All-Star Break and are looking to keep pace in the Western Conference, which is a blood bath currently. Los Angeles sits 4th in the West and struggled into the break losing three straight and six of their last ten games. The Warriors are now on the outside looking in as the 10th seed, also on a three-game losing streak and winning five of the last ten games. Everybody is returning healthy in this one as James Wiseman was missing some time and there were health protocols going on before the break. The Clippers are favored by seven tonight, with a hefty 230.5 implied total. For odds movement and full matchup history, visit the Golden State Warriors @ Los Angeles Clippers Matchup Page.

Warriors Starting 5

PG: Stephen Curry
SG: Andrew Wiggins
SF: Kelly Oubre
PF: Draymond Green
C: James Wiseman

Warriors Analysis

golden state warriorsJames Wiseman should be back tonight but is still listed as questionable due to health protocols. Wiseman ranks 4th in scoring on the team, averaging 11.9 points per game and 5.9 boards per game. He hasn’t brought much else to the table but the 19-yeard-old is valued by Golden State and these are strong minutes to get in the rookie season to help propel him to another level. Stephen Curry is amongst the MVP contenders, as he is averaging 29-5-6 this season, also tacking on 1.3 steals per game. He is shooting 47% from the field and 41% from three. Unfortunately, those around him continue to have up and down games, but I will say Andrew Wiggins is quietly having a strong year, averaging 17-4-2, shooting 46% from the field and 35% from three. Kelly Oubre is averaging 15 points per game and the shooting has a wide range of outcomes most nights.

Clippers Starting 5

PG: Patrick Beverley
SG: Paul George
SF: Kawhi Leonard
PF: Nicolas Batum
C: Serge Ibaka

Clippers Analysis

Los Angeles ClippersThe Clippers are top ten in points per game allowed and top ten in points per game. The defensive rating is league average and you might be wondering if they will flip that switch come to the end of the year or is the defense really a bigger concern. The Clippers role players continue to be the question mark later down the line in the postseason. Nobody is averaging over 13 points per game outside of Leonard and George. Lou Williams has not had a major impact this season but the shooting numbers are starting to look like his usual ones. The issue continues to be names like Marcus Morris, Reggie Jackson, Nicolas Batum, and Luke Kennard. Patrick Beverley is back and healthy, which will be a plus but his offensive ability isn’t going to make him a third option.

Warriors & Clippers DFS Angle

Attacking the Warriors defense is an easy way to go on tonight’s slate, but the question remains can any of the secondary scorers for the Clippers be of any value. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are strong plays, yet on a full slate, there are better options in the price range who have that tournament-winning type ceiling. Golden State ranks 23rd against shooting guards and small forwards, putting them in a good spot. Draymond Green and James Wiseman are GPP plays at best, and probably better suited for the late-night slate anyway. The Curry price tag is a bit high in comparison to name like Wall, Fox, and Paul who are a bit cheaper with similar upside.

Warriors vs. Clippers Betting Odds

Clippers Spread: -7
Clippers Moneyline: -275
Warriors Spread: +7
WarriorsMoneyline: +222
Over/Under Points Total: 230.5

No surprise here to see the public money on the over and the Clippers spread. The Warriors are Curry and a bunch of players who you have no idea will show up each night. Both teams have been around the 50% mark for ATS this season. Los Angeles has won by an average score of seven points over the last three meetings, winning two of the three, and covering two of the three. The numbers continue to be all over the place, but on the court, we know the Clippers have the better team. We will see who comes out in the second half firing away. This should be a close game and we know the Warriors can bank on Curry to keep games close.
