Golden State Warriors vs. Phoenix Suns Matchup Preview (11/30/21)

This is the matchup that everyone wants to see at the moment, and it is coming to us on Tuesday, November 30th. The Golden State Warriors (18-2) will look to continue their dominance against the red-hot Phoenix Suns (17-3). After a shaky 1-3 record to start the season, Phoenix has won 16 straight games, most of which have been in a somewhat convincing fashion. The Suns have looked terrific recently, especially Devin Booker, who has scored 30 or more points in three straight games. Chris Paul also has been playing very well. Paul has put up double-digit assists in five of his past seven games and has found himself on the MVP ladder once again. While it is unlikely that Paul wins MVP due to the sheer dominance of Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Nikola Jokic, and Giannis Antetokounmpo, he still has a significant, known impact on the game.

Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors have also been on a tear, winning its past seven games. The Warriors recently dubbed the Los Angeles Clippers by 15 points on the Clippers’ home floor. A frustrated Steph Curry got a technical foul for yelling at the referee due to a missed call and then went nuclear. It is hard to imagine a more dominant player in the NBA right now, and with James Wiseman and Klay Thompson being assigned to the Santa Cruz Warriors on Sunday, continued domination is imminent.

Golden State Warriors vs. Phoenix Suns Betting Odds

Sportsbooks have not dropped the odds for the matchup between the Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns. The table above will update automatically once the odds drop, so keep an eye on it around 24 hours before tip-off.

This is a tough one because, at some point, Phoenix has to lose. The Suns are a great team, but the likelihood of winning every single game during an entire month is relatively low. Obviously, there is more to this game than “they’re due to lose,” but it does make you wonder when that time will come. You should note that the Suns’ strength of schedule during that stretch has been weak. Still, that does not undermine what they have accomplished in November. If the Warriors are getting any points, then I like punching them against the spread.

Golden State Warriors Starting Lineup

PG: Steph Curry
SG: Jordan Poole
SF: Andrew Wiggins
PF: Draymond Green
C: Kevon Looney

Golden State Warriors Analysis

Golden State is currently riding a seven-game winning streak after a convincing home win against the Portland Trail Blazers, which I covered in a previous article, and a pummelling on the road against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Warriors are still without James Wiseman and Klay Thompson, although they will return soon as they were just assigned to the Santa Cruz Warriors. Thompson will add to the Warriors’ 3P% (three-point percentage), where they currently rank seventh in the NBA, and their defense. On the other hand, Wiseman will give the Warriors an extremely athletic big into their lineup to replace Kevon Looney, who is serviceable but not a long-term option as a starting center. In the meantime, Golden State can get another key road win against the Phoenix Suns if it continues to play stifling defense and playing at its pace.

Phoenix Suns Starting Lineup

PG: Chris Paul
SG: Devin Booker
SF: Mikal Bridges
PF: Jae Crowder
C: Deandre Ayton

Phoenix Suns Analysis

Phoenix has been nothing short of amazing over the last month of basketball. October was not a kind month to the Suns’ players or their organization. There were issues with extending Deandre Ayton and accusations of the Suns’ owners’ behavior, but November has been the exact opposite. That turmoil manifested itself in a 1-3 record at the beginning of the 2021-22 season, but once the Suns shook that off, they have not looked back, winning 16 straight games. Now, Phoenix will look to complete its perfect month by beating the best team in basketball at home. This is doable, but the Suns will need tremendous performances from Chris Paul and Devin Booker. Booker has been red-hot as of late, registering three straight games of 30+ points, while Paul has shot up the MVP ladder once again. It will be difficult for Paul to separate himself from other players, including Steph Curry, but if he continues to play at this level, the Suns will be one of the top seeds in the Western Conference once again.

Golden State Warriors vs. Phoenix Suns Daily Fantasy Picks

Generally, there are no great DFS plays when an opposing team takes on the Warriors, but the Phoenix Suns may be an exception. The Suns have won 16 straight games, including a road win against the talented Brooklyn Nets, and have remained undefeated in November. Devin Booker is likely the best DFS option, considering he has played exceptionally well recently. He has put up three consecutive 30+ point games in a row and looks to have hit his offensive stride. Phoenix will need to rely on Booker a ton against such an incredible Warriors defense.

Draymond Green is one of the premier defenders in the NBA and has been for almost a decade. Currently, he averages 8.2 points, eight rebounds, 7.8 assists, 1.1 steals, and nearly one block per game. Green started the season relatively slow; however, he has ramped it up lately, citing that he does not want his kids to remember him being bad. Regardless, Green fills the stat sheet up, and in certain games, he flirts with a triple-double. He can be a solid DFS play in the right matchup, and this may be one of those games where he is relied upon to distribute and rebound a lot.
