Charlotte Hornets Vs. Detroit Pistons Prediction
Thank the basketball gods for sports betting because if we were relegated to only watching this game without it, we would have a rough time. Two of the three worst teams in the Eastern Conference face off in an attempt to add a rare win to their low season total.
The most notable news leading into this game is the surprising trade between Charlotte and Miami: the Hornets moved Terry Rozier to the Heat for a first-round pick and Kyle Lowry. Charlotte is making a much-needed youth movement around its core players like LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller; however, this move will sting a bit, especially on the offensive end of the floor.
Rozier averaged 23.2 points, 6.6 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game on 45.9% shooting from the field and 35.8% from behind the arc for Charlotte this season. Without Rozier, the Hornets lose one of their primary offensive weapons and have to lean on LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller even more than they already have been.
While Charlotte was able to put together a road win against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the best team in the Western Conference, despite a 62-point explosion from Karl Anthony-Towns, we still expect a huge letdown game from the Hornets. Charlotte is a team that has been an atrocity on the road this season, except for two random games against Sacramento and Minnesota (on Monday night.)
Meanwhile, the Pistons bring back Cade Cunningham, who has missed the team’s past seven games. Cunningham has posted roughly 23 points, seven assists, and four rebounds per game this season, so his presence is of the utmost importance for this Detroit team, especially in a winnable game.
Further, Detroit will be able to deploy Monte Morris for the first time this season, adding a talented veteran guard to its rotation. For the second time this season, we are betting on the Pistons. It never feels good, but they are fully healthy, taking on a team that just lost their leading scorer and is fresh off an emotional win. A major letdown is expected.

North Carolina Sports Betting Update
With less than two months before the start of the NCAA Tournament, the clock is ticking for North Carolina sports betting to launch. However, the Tar Heel state did make significant strides recently by setting a deadline (January 26th) for operators to send in their proposed internal controls.
This is one of the last steps for North Carolina as it nears the launch of online sports betting in the state, which means that sports fans will be able to wager money on their favorite teams soon! Three (or four) college basketball teams in North Carolina could be dancing during March Madness: UNC, Duke, N.C. State and Wake Forest all could sneak into the NCAA Tournament.
