Charlotte Hornets Vs. San Antonio Spurs Prediction

How can we describe the Charlotte Hornets season so far? Injury-riddled? Yes. Unlucky? Yes. An absolute dumpster fire? Absolutely.

The Hornets were somewhat competitive with LaMelo Ball on the floor, but they have lost 14 of their last 15 games and boast the lowest net rating (-15.5) in the entire NBA in that span, even lower than the Detroit Pistons (-13.7.) Other injuries to key players like Gordon Hayward, Mark Williams, P.J. Washington, Cody Martin, and Frank Ntilikina have not helped either.

Does Charlotte stand a chance against Wemby and the Spurs? Not really.

Charlotte’s only relative strength is its three-point shooting this season; it ranks 19th in the NBA in that category. While the Spurs have been putrid this season defending the perimeter, they have allowed the eighth-lowest 3P% to opponents in their past three games, which indicates a positive short-term trend that could carry over into this bout.

The Hornets also allow the second-most points and rebounds to opposing centers of any team in the NBA. Needless to say, that bodes well for Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs. Wemby has been sensational recently, averaging roughly 23 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and four blocks in his past six games on an efficient 51% shooting from the floor and 87% from the free throw line. He has managed to do all of that in just 24 minutes per game.

Effectively, that means his PER 36s (a fair metric in this situation) equate to averages of 34 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, and six blocks. Nick Richards and Nathan Mensah stand little chance of containing Wemby.

Charlotte Hornets Vs. San Antonio Spurs Prediction: Spurs -1.5 (-110)

Charlotte Hornets Vs. San Antonio Spurs Injuries

The injury report remains the length of a novel for the Charlotte Hornets; they will continue to be without LaMelo Ball (ankle), Mark Williams (back), Gordon Hayward (calf), Frank Ntilikina (leg), and P.J. Washington (ankle.) Additionally, Cody Martin, who has missed the team’s past two games, holds a questionable designation with a groin injury.

Meanwhile, San Antonio’s frontcourt continues to be depleted, with Zach Collins (ankle) and Charles Bassey (knee) sidelined. The Spurs also won’t have Sidy Cissoko due to an ankle injury.

North Carolina Sports Betting Update

Believe it or not, North Carolina Sports Betting is almost here. Sports and sports betting fans in the Tar Heel state can almost bet on their favorite teams online. Online sports betting will be launched before the start of March Madness, which will be the perfect timing for die-hard fans of college basketball, particularly the Duke Blue Devils and North Carolina Tar Heels, two teams that will almost inevitably make the NCAA Tournament when it rolls around.

Even though legalized online sports betting was supposed to launch in North Carolina before the Super Bowl, the launch date was pushed back. However, we don’t believe that will happen again. A few sportsbooks that will be immediately available in North Carolina because they have already partnered with professional sports teams in the state are Bet365 North Carolina and FanDuel North Carolina.
