Charlotte Hornets Vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Prediction

The Charlotte Hornets finally grabbed a win this past Friday against the Spurs after dropping 17 of their past 18 games. Unfortunately, they returned to form in a home loss versus the Philadelphia 76ers; Charlotte finished that game with only 89 points on roughly 41% shooting from the field and 24% from behind the arc. Can Charlotte do the unthinkable on the road against the Minnesota Timberwolves?

There’s not a world that exists where we feel comfortable backing the Charlotte Hornets, especially against a Minnesota team that has (by far!) the lowest (best) defensive rating (103.4) in the NBA on its home floor.

Further, the Hornets hold a flabbergastingly poor -17.8 net rating in their past ten road games and are the fifth-worst rebounding team this season. Making matters worse, they will still be without Mark Williams and might not have backup center Nick Richards for a third consecutive game, forcing P.J. Washington to play center against Rudy Gobert and Karl Anthony-Towns.

Lastly, Minnesota is fresh off a frustrating five-point home loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder, a team that it is trying to hold off from the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. Unfortunately, the Hornets will be the punching bag for OKC’s actions.

Charlotte Hornets Vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Prediction: Timberwolves -15 (-110)

Charlotte Hornets Vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Injuries

Charlotte will continue to be without its starting center, Mark Williams (back), and forward, Gordon Hayward (calf.) Further, two players for the Hornets will be game-time decisions, including LaMelo Ball (ankle) and Nick Richards (ankle.) Ball and Richards missed the team’s last game against Philadelphia, so don’t be surprised if they sit once again in this spot on the road against the best team in the Western Conference.

Meanwhile, like much of the 2023-24 season, the Minnesota Timberwolves will have an extremely light injury report, with Jaylen Clark (Achilles) being the only player to miss this matchup against Charlotte.

North Carolina Sports Betting Update

On January 10th, North Carolina sports betting took one more huge step towards a launch by setting a deadline for operators to submit their proposed internal controls. This is a solid step forward for the Tar Heel state as it tries to lock down a launch date before the start of March Madness, which will be a massive few weeks for betting.

Wake Forest is on the right side of the “bubble” for March Madness, which would give North Carolina three NCAA Tournament teams (Duke and UNC) this season! College basketball fans should be able to bet on these three teams during March Madness if they want to.

The biggest challenge for potential bettors is choosing a sportsbook, but don’t worry. We have you covered with projected first-time user promotions and reviews for these sportsbooks: DraftKings North Carolina, Bet365 North Carolina, and FanDuel North Carolina.
