Charlotte Hornets vs. Washington Wizards Prediction
Someone has to win this game, and I am rolling with Washington here.
Since the February 8th trade deadline, Charlotte is scoring a pitiful 104.5 points per 100 possessions (via NBA.com), which ranks dead last over that stretch. Outside of Brandon Miller and Miles Bridges, they lack off-the-dribble consistency and tough shot-making. Although Washington boasts an ugly defense, they do possess quality wing defenders in Bilal Coulibaly and Deni Avdija. Those two can somewhat limit Charlotte’s top scorers and force them into poor shot quality all night, thus dampening an already horrendous offense.
Meanwhile, Charlotte lacks point-of-attack defense with Tre Mann and Vasilije Micic getting heavy minutes. Tyus Jones will be able to pick them apart and generate decent looks for teammates, while Jordan Poole may explode from a scoring standpoint. Nick Richards is expected to mark Kyle Kuzma too, so the veteran has a significant perimeter advantage.
Now, the Hornets have a big advantage on the glass with Kuzma starting at center. An aggressive night from Richards could lead to a decent possession advantage for Charlotte, which grants them more margin for error.
Overall, Washington possesses a bit more firepower on offense, and their top defenders align with Charlotte’s top scorers. Look for the Wizards to take this game by a few points

Charlotte Hornets vs. Washington Wizards Injuries
LaMelo Ball, Mark Williams, Cody Martin, Seth Curry, and potentially Tre Mann will miss the contest for Charlotte. On the other end, Washington lacks Marvin Bagley III, Landry Shamet, and Isaiah Livers. Advantage Wizards.
Charlotte Hornets vs. Washington Wizards Key Matchups
Vasilije Micic’s Passing
The EuroLeague star has averaged 5.7 assists over his past 11 games. Micic is a crafty passer with excellent court vision, and he understands angles well. Charlotte’s offense needs an injection of order and discipline, which Micic can provide. If he orchestrates more possessions than usual here, then the Hornets have a chance to field a mediocre offense.
