Indianapolis Colts Analysis
The Indianapolis Colts have one more opportunity to make the playoffs and/or win the AFC South next weekend. They are currently the first team out of the AFC playoffs with a 10-5 record on the season. They lost the tiebreaker to the Tennessee Titans, so if the Titans win next week, they will win the division. Next week, the Colts have an easier matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars to finish out their season.
Last week, Philip Rivers had a tough game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, as he completed just 62.9% of his passes for 270 yards, one passing touchdown, and two total turnovers. Rivers was also sacked five times in the game by the Steelers, who lead the NFL in sacks. Rivers connected with Zach Pascal for his single touchdown of the game. The Jaguars have one of the worst defenses in the league, and they have allowed nearly 70% completion percentage to their opponents, the sixth most passing yards per game, and the second-most passing touchdowns per game to their opponents.
Jonathan Taylor led the notorious Colts’ rushing attack last game with 18 rushes for 74 yards and two rushing touchdowns in the first half. Nyheim Hines also ran the ball eight times for 44 yards and caught five passes for 20 yards in the backfield. The offensive line helped them secure a 4.5 rushing average against one of the best defenses in the NFL. The Jaguars this season has allowed the third-most rushing yards and rushing touchdowns per game this season, so the Colts should take advantage.
The Colts’ defense, and offense too, allowed the Pittsburgh Steelers to score three straight touchdowns in the second half to secure their comeback in the game. They also produced just one sack and zero turnovers in the game, which did not help them. This season, however, the Colts’ defense has allowed just 23.2 points per game and the eighth least amount of yards per game. Next week, the Colts will be taking on the team with the sixth-worst DVOA rating in the league and one of the most unproductive offenses in the league.

Jacksonville Jaguars Analysis
Last week, the Jacksonville Jaguars lost to the Chicago Bears by 24 points at home. On the bright side, the Jacksonville Jaguars have locked in the first overall draft pick in next year’s NFL draft. The Jaguars have no motive for winning nor losing this game next week. However, the Colts are the only team they have beaten this season, stemming all the way back to week one.
Last week, quarterback Mike Glennon took on his former team in a revenge game to try to prove his worth. He threw for 211 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in the game. He connected with two of his best receivers, D.J Chark and Leviska Shenault, to score two of his touchdowns. The Colts do not possess the best pass rush, considering they have the fourth least amount of produced sacks this season. But, they have the seventh-best DVOA in terms of passing defense this season. Behind the works of Xavier Rhodes and Kenny Moore, Indianapolis gets the job done on defense.
James Robinson was unable to play last week against the Chicago Bears and is still questionable to play this week. Dare Ogunbowale took the reigns in the backfield and produced just 14 attempts for 71 yards on the day. He was able to come up with some first downs in his first start and some good looking runs. But, the Colts have allowed the second least amount of rushing yards per game and just 3.7 yards per attempt to their opponents this season.
The Jacksonville Jaguars’ defense has been anything but impressive this season. They have allowed the second-most points per game to their opponents at 30.9. Plus, they have allowed the most yards per game to their opponents with over 400 yards per game. Joe Schobert has been the highlight of their defense, considering he has three interceptions this season. The Colts offense is powered by their great offensive line and run game, and the Jaguars will need to focus on containing them to win this one.

The Colts seriously need this game to get into the playoffs. They could win the AFC South with a win and a loss for the Titans. But, ultimately, they have to win this game to have a chance to sneak into the playoffs. This one seems pretty easy to me, and I would take the Colts money line and spread for this game.
While both of these teams have positive records towards the over/under, I could see this game going with the under. The Colts defense is one of the best in the league, and the Jaguars have not been doing well on offense lately under Mike Glennon and without their star rookie running back, James Robinson. That being said, the Colts are a run-heavy team, so I could see this game going with the under.

Love/Hate Fantasy Picks
Love
Jonathan Taylor has scored a touchdown in each of his last four games. He has averaged 20+ points in his last four games too. Last week, he put up 19.4 fantasy points on one of the toughest defenses in the league against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Taylor’s touches in the backfield are valuable for his owners, and he should fair well next weekend. The Jaguars have allowed the third-most fantasy points to running backs this season. He has projected for 14.35 fantasy points next weekend.
Hate
D.J Chark had a great game last week, scoring a touchdown over rookie corner Kindle Vildor for one of two passing touchdowns by the Jaguars last game. He had 16.2 fantasy points last week, which is the third most he has put up this season. However, that was the first double-digit game Chark has seen since week 9 against the Houston Texans. The Colts defense is seriously elite, and Chark will see the most of their attention on offense. Chark has projected 11.7 next week, but I would not anticipate him living up to that expectation.
