Iowa Hawkeyes Position Groups
The Iowa Hawkeyes continue drilling away at opponents as they progress through regular season play this 2023-24 season. As the No. 1 team in the Big Ten, Iowa will be intent on defending its title against conference opponents in the new year. Head coach Lisa Bluder looks to build on Iowa’s runner-up performance at the 2023 NCAA Finals by leading the team on another championship run this season. Find a breakdown of the Iowa women’s basketball team below along with injury updates and all the latest information on how the Hawkeyes starting lineup stacks up to competitors.
Iowa Point Guards: Caitlin Clark
As one of the most recognizable faces in women’s college basketball, Caitlin Clark leads the Hawkeyes and the entire nation in scoring. Clark continues to guide her team through another successful year as she considers declaring for the WNBA Draft at the end of this season. The six-foot senior became Iowa’s all-time top scorer this season and is well on her way to becoming the all-time leading NCAA women’s basketball scorer, currently ranked ninth on that list. She’s averaging an impressive 32 points per game this season, logging a season-high 45 points against Ohio State in late January. Clark has started every Hawkeye game this season and is expected to continue doing so as Iowa looks toward the NCAA Finals.
Iowa Shooting Guards: Kate Martin, Gabbie Marshall, Molly Davis
Kate Martin is a standard starter on the Hawkeyes lineup, starting in every matchup of the season thus far. Martin is only the tenth Iowa WBB player to tally more than 400 assists during her career — the 32nd to record over 500 career rebounds.
Fifth-year Gabbie Marshall is the other guard to be consistently featured on the Hawkeyes’ starting lineup. Marshall started all 38 games last season and appears to be headed for a similar outcome this year. She logged a season-high 17 points against UNI in November, with 15 of those points coming from behind the arc.
Fifth-year guard Molly Davis has seen the starting lineup of the majority of Iowa’s matchups, logging a season-high 17 points against Maryland this February. Davis has only missed the starting five of two games this season,
Iowa Forwards: Hannah Stuelke
Stuelke has found the starting lineup of all but three games she’s played this season. The sophomore forward rivals Clark as the team’s most efficient rebounder. She logged a season-high 47 points against Penn State this February at an impressive 85% success rate.
Iowa Bench Talents: Kylie Feuerbach, Sydney Affolter
While redshirt Junior Kylie Feuerbach hasn’t started a single game this season, she’s played in every single one, often offering Marshall and Clark relief off the starting lineup.
With one of the highest rebounding averages on the team, Sydney Affolter is another go-to bench talent for Iowa. Although the junior guard has started less than a handful of games this season, her contributions have been many, making Affolter a valuable Hawkeyes resource on both sides of the court.
Iowa Center: Sharon Goodman, Addison O’Grady
Sharon Goodman, who boasts the highest field goal accuracy on the team, made herself a starting five go-to early on in the season, although that’s tapered off through the season due to her qualification as a redshirt junior.
Addison O’Grady is another Iowa rising talent, logging a season-high 10 points against Bowling Green this December.
