This matchup showcases the bottom of the AFC South between the (4-6) Jaguars and the (5-5) Titans. Both teams still have a fighting chance for first place in the division because of how tight it is. The Jaguars took a hit last week in a loss to the divisional leader, the Colts. That game marked the return of Nick Foles who had missed every game since Week 1. In his first game back, he threw for 296 yards with two touchdowns, both to D.J. Chark. This nice return for Foles is a good sign of things to come. They aren’t out of it yet and have the talent to win the division. The Titans are one game ahead of the Jaguars and a win would send them into a tie for second place in the division as the Texans and Colts play each other this week. The Titans had their bye week last week but are coming off a huge win against the Chiefs two weeks ago. Derrick Henry was the main reason for that with his 188 yards on 23 carries and two touchdowns. The Jags are not much better at defending the run, so he could have a repeat week. For odds movement and full matchup history, visit the Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans matchup page.

Jacksonville Jaguars Analysis

Jacksonville JaguarsThe Jaguars lost a blow out game against the Colts last week which was a setback in their attempt to make the playoffs this year, but despite the loss, there were a few good things to take out of it. Nick Foles made his return and instantly got his chemistry back with D.J. Chark which is a good sign. Chark had 8 receptions for 104 yards and two touchdowns. The main reason for their loss was Leonard Fournette’s below average performance in which he had just 23 yards on 8 carries. The Jaguars have been far more successful when he gets going.

The Titans have been worse against the pass than the run so far this year in comparison with league averages. Nick Foles should be ready to throw a lot to Chark and Conley. Even though they are tougher against the run, they still average over 100 rushing yards per game. Fournette has every capability of blasting up their defense on the ground and in the passing game. His versatility will come in handy in a big game that will determine the future of the Jags’ season.

Tennessee Titans Analysis

Tennessee TitansThe Titans have all the momentum on their side. Their win against the Chiefs was one of the most unexpected outcomes that week. Derrick Henry’s huge game has become more and more of the norm for him. He will have a few under performances, then bust out a game out where he goes far past 100 yards like that game. Ryan Tannehill also didn’t have that bad of a game. He just wasn’t used as heavily. He threw for 181 yards with two touchdowns without an interception. When both the pass game and run game are effective, it’s hard to beat, even the Chiefs’ offense couldn’t overtake them.

The Titans should have an effective time running the ball again. The Jaguars have allowed the fourth-most rushing yards per game with 134.6. They also have given up the sixth-most rushing touchdowns. Henry had two rushing touchdowns last game and hold the fourth-most in the league with eight total this season. I wouldn’t leave Tannehill out of the equation. If he can get A.J. Brown or Adam Humphries going, that would be a killer for the Jags. The possible return of Corey Davis would also help enormously.

Daily Fantasy: A Day on the Ground

The outcome of this game will likely be determined by who can dominate the ground. Both teams have good rushing attacks with Leonard Fournette and Derrick Henry. Whichever of the two has a better game will be a good predictor of the final score. I’d expect both to have big days nonetheless. I would bet more on Derrick Henry this week as the Jaguars have the worst run defense between the two, and he is coming off a huge performance in his last game. Fournette does have the ability to explode out of nowhere which is likely scenario in this game. Henry and Fournette are both seeming to have big games this week.
