Besides his receiving weapons, it will be a tough ask to beat this underrated Chargers squad with little talent surrounding him.

Jacksonville Jaguars Analysis

The Jacksonville Jaguars are in a bit of a tough position. Gardner Minshew realizes that if he does not win games and the Jags end with a top pick, then they will draft a QB. At the same time, it seems like with all the moves that Jacksonville has made that they wanted to tank this season. Regardless, it is clear that the players and the coach are still trying to win, and they are in for a challenging matchup having to travel coast-to-coast and play the Chargers.

Gardner Minshew has been playing pretty well, all things considered. This Chargers secondary can be beaten, and we have seen it from multiple different QBs. DJ Chark has been his #1 WR and will continue to be his #1 WR in this game. The Chargers got beat over the top several times by both Brady and Brees, and that is where Chark and Minshew need to hurt them. The matchup of Keelan Cole and Laviska Shenault versus Desmond King and Michael Davis will also be important. Giving Minshew outlets underneath will help him escape the pressure caused by Joey Bosa and company.

James Robinson has been a surprise on the season. Teams have had pretty good success rushing the ball against this Chargers front; however, Robinson has failed to really cash in on two massive plus matchups against the Lions and Texans. If Robinson can see himself get going, then I believe that the Jaguars have a somewhat realistic shot in this game.

When it comes to handling Justin Herbert, I think that the Jags will look not to their secondary but to Josh Allen and Taven Bryan on the defensive line. They will want to bring the heat to Herbert and see if he can handle that. I do not believe that Tre Herndon and CJ Henderson will do enough to keep Keenan Allen and Mike Williams from getting open. The way to stop this passing attack is to not even let the ball get out. I expect heavy pressure from the Jags to see if they can make the rookie uncomfortable and force some errors.

Los Angeles Chargers Analysis

Justin Herbert has been unlucky to not yet see himself win a game. He has held up his end of the bargain; however, it is the defense, that should be the strength of this team, that has let Herbert down. Anthony Lynn has to feel the seat warming in Los Angeles, as he has really underperformed with the talent that he has on the roster. This is a must-win for the Chargers team against a struggling Jags squad.

Justin Herbert will be hoping that both Keenan Allen and Mike Williams are 100% for this game, as both are coming in with a knock. Herbert has been so good that I believe he could perform without the two-star WRs; however, it is important for any rookie QB to have go-to targets like this pair. I expect that with how this Jags secondary has played, Herbert will be able to expose them.

Joshua Kelley and Justin Jackson need to step up. We saw that the Lions were able to terrorize Jacksonville from the RB position, and these two backs will need to show up if the Chargers want to dominate the game. Both have been lackluster, and it has all fallen on Justin Herbert to win games for the Chargers. If they could get going, it could relieve a ton of pressure for their rookie QB, and we could see an even more effective Justin Herbert in this game.

This Chargers defense will first look to stop letting up chunk plays on the ground. Kenneth Murray, 1st round rookie LB, will be key to seeing this fixed. If he can play well and fill up some of those gaps, then it can allow Bosa and Nwosu to be unleashed on Minshew.

I am very interested to see how this secondary takes on DJ Chark and these receiving weapons for the Jaguars. This will be the difference between a blowout and a competitive match. If the Chargers dominate the battle in the secondary, then Jacksonville has no chance at winning this game. However, the way that Jacksonville sneaks a win by is by having Chark, Shenault, Cole, etc. consistently getting open for Minshew.

This game will not hit this high over/under. I believe that the Chargers will finally take the step that they have needed to, on the defense. They will be able to limit Minshew and Robinson from getting the offense going and allow Herbert to play with a lead for much of this game. With the Chargers controlling the ball, clock, and scoreboard, I foresee the game being surprisingly low-scoring and a cruise control victory for Herbert and the Chargers.

Keenan Allen at $6,200 is a great price point for the #1 WR on a heavy passing attack like the Chargers have turned into. With how well Herbert is playing, you want his top target, and that is Keenan Allen. This is a perfect example of a GPP or Cash play because Allen has such a high ceiling and high floor with his volume and the talented QB. Allen is one of my most rostered players this week, as long as he is healthy.

DJ Chark at $5,500 should have a good day even if the Jaguars are not flying high on offense. He will get targets and get the high-value targets in the red zone and down the field. DJ Chark is at a great price this week and plays against a secondary who has struggled in recent weeks. Another play for Cash or GPP.

Mike Williams at $4,700 is a WR play for tournaments. With Keenan banged up, even if he plays, Williams could see a huge target increase. Mike Williams had a stellar performance last time he played against the Saints. If he can get that kind of target share again, he will be a must-start. Like a DJ Chark, Williams gets targets down the field and in the red zone. Those are the opportunities you want for your tournament WR.
