Sacramento Kings Vs. Charlotte Hornets: Predictions, Starting Lineups (1/10/24)
One week after securing the biggest upset thus far in the 2023-24 regular season, the Charlotte Hornets will look for a repeat performance against the Sacramento Kings, with this game played on the East Coast instead of the West Coast. See our Sacramento Kings vs. Charlotte Hornets predictions, betting picks, and projected starting lineups for both teams below!
Sacramento Kings Vs. Charlotte Hornets Prediction
The most embarrassing loss this season belongs to either the Toronto Raptors when they lost to Detroit, which snapped its 28-game losing streak, or to the Sacramento Kings, who lost to a severely shorthanded (putting it kindly) Hornets team on their home floor. Sacramento’s loss is arguably worse, as it should be a surefire playoff team, assuming it can stay healthy.
Now, the Kings have a chance to avenge their catastrophic loss, but it will be on the road. Luckily, Sacramento has been a halfway decent road team, boasting a 9-7 record away from Golden 1 Center. The Kings have won three consecutive road games entering this matchup with Charlotte and hold the second-highest net rating in that span. Additionally, Sacramento has shot close to 54% from the field and 41% from behind the arc in those road games, proving that it can dominate anywhere if its players are hot.
On the other hand, Charlotte has only won one of its past 14 games and has by far the worst net rating (-14.7) in the NBA in that stretch. The Hornets have had to lean heavily on Terry Rozier’s offensive output to stay even remotely close in games, but with revenge on their mind, the Kings should put Charlotte away expeditiously.
Lastly, the Kings have shot lights out (42.2%) from behind the arc in their past three games, while Charlotte has allowed opponents to shoot the highest percentage (39.5%) from deep of any team in the league. And the team in 29th isn’t all that close. Between the inevitable three-point disparity, Sacramento should have no issue holding Charlotte to a reasonable offensive output, considering the Kings have the second-highest defensive rebounding percentage of any team in the league. The Hornets will be forced to shoot a very high percentage to stay remotely close. We don’t see it.
