Steph Curry Over 5.5 Threes (-113) – FanDuel
The Golden State Warriors have been red-hot recently, securing eight wins in their past ten games behind improved play on both ends of the floor. Golden State has turned things around since losing back-to-back home games by one point to the Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Lakers. At least for now.
It is hard to say whether the Dubs can keep that momentum riding after a lengthy All-Star break; however, they are in a huge revenge spot against the LeBron-less Lakers team on their own floor. With their last game against Los Angeles being a one-point overtime loss, where Steph Curry went for 46 points, expect the Warriors to have a sense of urgency from the jump.
Curry’s track record against the Lakers since the beginning of the 2022-23 regular season (regular season games only) has been quite solid; he has averaged 35.3 points on a 46/38/100 shooting split, but the volume has been eye-opening. Steph averages just shy of 16 three-point attempts (13, 13, and 21 3PAs) in that span, which is an outrageous volume.
And we know that Los Angeles has not been good in defending point guards on the perimeter this season, allowing them to knock down the third-most threes per game in the NBA. Further, the Lakers allow opponents to hit 38.7% of threes on the road this season, which is the sixth-worst mark amongst NBA teams.
This is just a phenomenal spot to hammer the Over on Curry’s threes.
Rui Hachimura Over 15.5 Points (-122) – FanDuel
The Los Angeles Lakers’ injury report is laundry list-esque right now, with LeBron James, Gabe Vincent, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Christian Wood listed as out and Max Christie and Cam Reddish designated at “game-time decisions.”
This leaves an obvious scoring and offensive void for the Lakers to fill, especially since Anthony Davis is likely to be hounded with double-teams and a tough matchup with Draymond Green as his primary defender all game long. Rui Hachimura is going to be one of the players who steps up.
In five games as a starter (and without LeBron James in the lineup) this season, Hachimura has averaged 19.4 points on a 63/58/71 shooting split. In order words, he has stepped up and will do it again.
Further, he has hit the Over on this line in all three games as a starter without LeBron when playing 33 or more minutes, which we fully expect in this spot. Hachimura has played 34+ minutes in three of his past four games.
Lastly, Hachimura’s confidence will be at an all-time high after dropping a career-high 36 points against the Utah Jazz right before the All-Star break. D’Angelo Russell and Anthony Davis will still see a lot of shots in this game but expect Golden State to force guys like Rui to beat it, especially on its home floor.
