Los Angeles Clippers at Philadelphia 76ers Preview

In an interconference clash tonight on TNT, the Los Angeles Clippers will travel to the city of Brotherly Love, but there will likely be no love lost as the Clippers look at adding another L to the pristine home record of the 76ers.

The Clippers are currently third in the Western Conference with a 37-16 record. They won their last game overcoming a huge loss, are 7-3 in their last 10 games and own a 15-11 record on the road this season. The 76ers have slipped to fifth in the East with a 33-21 record. They are 5-5 in their last 10, but they have found some success with two consecutive wins. They are one of the league’s best home teams, with a 24-2 record at Wells Fargo Center.

This will be the first game of the regular season series between the 76ers and Clippers. They have not played since last year.

Clippers Analysis

Los Angeles ClippersAfter suffering a surprising 142-115 blowout loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday, the Clippers bounced back with a 133-92 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday with Kawhi Leonard sitting out.

Morris finished with 10 points and four rebounds, but the Clippers were led by Paul George’s 22 points and the normal bench duo of Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell scoring a combined 44 points, although Williams started for Leonard. Landry Shamet started in place of Beverley and had 11 points.

With sitting Leonard, and injuries to George and Leonard recently, the Clippers have had to stay afloat.

“A lot of our guys have not been able to play,” Clippers coach Doc Rivers said. “Paul George has missed a lot. There are times when I do freak out about it, but then there’s times we’re gonna be fine. And at the end of the day, I think we’ll be fine.”

Leonard should be back in action tonight, but Beverley remains out.

Philadelphia 76ers Starting Lineup

PG: Ben Simmons
SG: Shake Milton
SF: Tobias Harris
PF: Al Horford
C: Joel Embiid

76ers Analysis

Philadelphia 76ersAfter their loss to Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks last week, the 76ers have bounced back with wins over the Memphis Grizzlies and  Chicago Bulls.

While I don’t want to understate what Ben Simmons has done lately, the one constant in both wins has been the outstanding play of Furkman Korkmaz, who has scored 30-plus points in both games and is shooting the lights out from beyond the arch.

“I see him becoming a better passer. You know that I am going to say this, but I like the defensive side of things and he’s emerged to be one of our key players on a pretty good team,” Sixers coach Brett Brown said of Korkmaz. “His confidence is certainly the highest since I have coached him, but I will say it again, driven out of more than just seeing him bomb away and making threes.”

Simmons had a triple-double with 19 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds against the Bulls. New 76er Glenn Robinson III also played well, scoring 10 points in 12 minutes.

Key Player Matchups

Kawhi Leonard vs. Tobias Harris

Leonard and Harris are very different forwards. Harris can shot outside, but he seems to do his best work down low, whereas Leonard is comfortable all over the floor. Harris is a fine player, but he’s up against it defending Leonard, especially after a day of rest off. Harris may be able to defend well inside, but out on the perimeter, he will be on an island against Kawhi.

Daily Fantasy

Kawhi Leonard and Joel Embiid are fantasy standouts for tonight’s game. Leonard has the fifth-highest projection with 45.2 points and is available for $9.2k on FanDuel. Embiid is available for $9.8k and is expected to finish with 44.5 points.

In terms of value players, you cannot pass Montrezl Harrell up with his super-low salary of $5.6k. He’s projected for 28.8 points tonight. Al Horford would be my pick for the 76ers. He’s available for $5.5k and projected for 28.1 points.
