Los Angeles Clippers vs. Golden State Warriors Matchup Preview (3/8/22)
The Clippers will head to the northern part of California on Tuesday night to face the Golden State Warriors for the second game of the TNT Tuesday night slate. The last time these two teams faced off, the Clippers won convincingly at home by 15 points while shutting down the Warriors’ offense. While this game is in San Francisco, it is hard to say whether or not that will be enough to help Golden State grab this win at home. The Warriors are 1-3 in their past four home games, so home-court advantage has not played much of a factor for them recently. It is as clear as day that they are missing Draymond Green dearly, and the statistics back that claim up as well. Their defensive rating has dropped substantially since his injury in early January, and the morale is at an all-season low. A bounce-back win against the Los Angeles Clippers is not only wanted but necessary for a squad that may have peaked too soon this season.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles had played wonderful basketball until it dropped one to the New York Knicks, who had been riding a crazy seven-game losing streak before beating the Clippers. However, the Clippers did a good job holding Julius Randle and Evan Fournier at bay but let everyone else have strong offensive nights. Over the past month or so, the Clippers have had one of the lowest defensive ratings in the NBA, which could further complicate the Warriors’ recent struggles. See who I have covering the spread and winning in this matchup below under the betting odds section!
Los Angeles Clippers vs. Golden State Warriors Betting Odds
I expect this game to end similarly to the last time these two teams played. It is hard for me to back the Warriors right now with how they have been playing, especially after they dropped a game to the Lakers. In that game, they let LeBron James drop close to 60 points. Basically, the Warriors’ defense is exploitable right now, which benefits a team like the Clippers, who can struggle on that end occasionally. I will highly consider taking the Clippers’ Moneyline if it is +200 or wider and will be all over the Clippers if they are more than five or six-point road dogs.

Los Angeles Clippers Analysis
It was smooth sailing for the Los Angeles Clippers for a while; they had won six of their past seven games and five straight before falling to the abysmal New York Knicks on Sunday. Their only loss in that period was a single-digit loss to the Phoenix Suns, who had Devin Booker and Chris Paul playing. In short, they were playing impressively well before this home beatdown that the Knicks gave them. Los Angeles was ice cold in that matchup, shooting merely 37% from the field and out-rebounded by 14 boards. Their success over the past month has been predicated entirely on their defense. The Clippers have the lowest defensive rating since their hot streak started in early February. If they can keep playing that level of defense, then they will continue winning a majority of their games.
Golden State Warriors Starting Lineup
PG: Steph Curry
SG: Klay Thompson
SF: Andrew Wiggins
PF: Otto Porter Jr.

Golden State Warriors Analysis
Everything has gone south for the Golden State Warriors since Draymond Green suffered an injury. Throughout this season, the Warriors are 15-15 without Green. And since his injury on January 9th, the Warriors have a defensive rating of 111.2. To give you an idea, the Warriors have a defensive rating of 105.5 throughout the season, including this rough patch, which further proves how important Green is to this team, especially on the defensive end. Offensively, it is a similar impact when Green is out there. He is one of the best 4-on-3 players in the game’s history, playmaking in the middle of the floor off of a high ball screen with Curry. It is an art to watch. Regardless, the good news in all of this is that he could return soon with some reports saying 7-10 days. It may end up being a bit longer than that, but his return should be met with much excitement from the fans and the team!
Los Angeles Clippers vs. Golden State Warriors Daily Fantasy Picks
After an unbelievably strong game against the Lakers, Reggie Jackson returned to Earth against the Knicks. In the “Battle of Los Angeles” game, Jackson posted 36 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds and likely won some clairvoyant genius a lot of money in DFS. The Knicks game was not as beneficial to people who plugged Jackson into their lineups as he finished with just ten points. This type of inconsistency can happen with the Clippers, though; you never know what Clippers offense you will get on any given night. Still, Jackson remains a great player and option in DFS. He will be heavily relied upon for offensive production against the Warriors, and I could see him posting 25 points fairly easily.
It seems the Warriors are realizing that Jordan Poole might be their most reliable option for a secondary scorer, even though Klay Thompson is back and healthy. Thompson has been somewhat inefficient since returning from nearly three years of injury, which makes you wonder if Poole should be getting more shots on the offensive end. Either way, Poole just posted 23 points and grabbed five boards against the Los Angeles Lakers; we should see a lot more of this on a more usual basis.
