LSU vs Arkansas: Odds, Picks, Predictions (1/23/23)

LSU visits Arkansas in an SEC clash. LSU is coming off a blowout loss to Tennessee at home, while Arkansas recovered from a losing streak and beat Ole Miss at home. This should be an interesting matchup in the SEC. Let’s take a look at the odds and make some picks and predictions for this game!

LSU vs. Arkansas Odds

Arkansas is a 13-point home favorite against LSU and is at -950 on the money line. The over/under is also at 140.5. Arkansas being this much of a favorite makes sense because of how much LSU seems to have struggled, especially in SEC play. Arkansas also may have righted the ship with their last win. The over/under also makes sense because both teams are good on offense, but better on defense. This spread could move a bit before tip-off because it’s such a big spread.

LSU vs. Arkansas Prediction & Pick

The pick: Arkansas -13

This is a big spread, but it might be the perfect time to buy-in on Arkansas and sell on LSU even more. Arkansas is coming off a comfortable win over the weekend against Ole Miss. They are still dealing with a few injuries this year, but may have turned a corner.

Ricky Council IV is Arkansas’ leading scorer and has been their most important player for generating offense. Anthony Black has stepped up too and leads the team with assists and steals, while being right behind Council in scoring too as just a freshman. Davonte Davis has stepped up too with Makhi Mitchell who also leads the team in rebounds and blocks.

As a team, the Razorbacks excel more on defense than offense, especially with the injuries they’re dealing with. On the other side, LSU has really struggled this year, especially when SEC play started.

KJ Williams has been incredible for LSU this year and has done it all for the Tigers this season. He leads the team in points, rebounds, steals and blocks this year. Adam Miller has been a good sidekick for Williams and is the second-leading scorer for the Tigers. Cam Hayes and Derek Fountain are the next two in line for production on offense and they’ve been okay too.

As a team, LSU excels more on defense than offense. They have struggled to consistently find offense this year, outside of KJ Williams.

Arkansas might have righted the ship after the win against Ole Miss, and are going to want revenge for losing to LSU earlier in SEC play. This spread is big, especially in conference, but take Arkansas to cover and win very comfortably.

LSU vs. Arkansas Key Matchups

Can Adam Miller matchup with Ricky Council IV? Can Makhi Mitchell matchup with KJ Williams?

Ricky Council IV vs Adam Miller

Ricky Council IV has been great for Arkansas this year. He averages 17 points, 2 assists, and 3 rebounds per game for the season. He’ll be matched up with Adam Miller most of the game who averages 12 points, 1 assist, and 2 rebounds per game for the season. This should be a great matchup in this game. Ricky Council IV is the better offensive player but Miller is also very good. These are two of the better players on their teams, so this matchup will be key for who wins.

KJ Williams vs Makhi Mitchell

KJ Williams has been the best player for LSU this year. He averages 18 points, 1 assist, and 7 rebounds per game for the season. He’ll be matched up against Makhi Mitchell most of the game who averages 8 points, 1 assist, and 6 rebounds per game for the season. This should be a big matchup for this game because of how good Williams has been all year for the Tigers. Williams is such a key to LSU’s offense, that this matchup is going to be huge on if Mitchell can guard him well.
