Miami Dolphins vs. San Francisco 49ers Matchup Preview (10/11/20): Betting Odds, Depth Charts, Live Stream (Watch Online)
Contents
San Francisco welcomes Miami this week as they look to rebound after a loss against Philadelphia on Sunday Night Football. The 49ers continue to deal with injuries but there is a chance they get a few names back this week. There was praise for Nick Mullens up until a horrid interception and then CJ Bethard took over. There is a chance Jimmy Garoppolo returns this week and the same goes for Raheem Mostert. With Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk back over the last two weeks, the offense is finally starting to get healthy. As for Miami, the season is going just about as expected. For those looking to see Tua, Brian Flores has already come out saying he is not ready and I wouldn’t expect him to start any time soon. Ryan Fitzpatrick will continue to start. Despite not playing great football this season, the 49ers are 8.5 point favorites. For odds movement and full matchup history, visit the Miami Dolphins at San Francsico 49ers Matchup Page.

Miami Dolphins Analysis
Miami is one of those losing teams that can always give you trouble. We saw it last week as Seattle was slow going for most of the game before pulling away a bit late. They get the banged-up 49ers this week. While it is on the road I believe they will give the 49ers some trouble. Miami’s defense has been banged up as well and despite adding to the secondary in the offseason we have yet to see that really pan out. They are allowing 9.3 yards per attempt and 286 passing yards a game. They still remain one of the poorer defenses against the run which is why I like the over this week. They face a very good run offense and it doesn’t matter who is healthy because Kyle Shanahan has a premium track record of producing regardless.
Offensively this team still goes with Ryan Fitzpatrick and while he has five interceptions to four touchdowns, he is completing 69% of his passes and is producing 277 yards per game through the air. DeVante Parker remains the favorite target with 29 targets, and he has averaged 69.8 yards per game so far this season. Mike Gesicki is next in line with 190 yards and two touchdowns. The big surprise has been Isaiah Ford being next in line in comparison to Preston Williams. Ford has 26 targets, which is second on the team. While he hasn’t found the end zone he has been involved. The other surprise has been Myles Gaskin establishing himself as the lead back despite the Dolphins adding Jordan Howard and Matt Breida over the offseason. Gaskin has 48 carries while the other two names do not have over 20. He is also being used in the passing game with 20 targets.

San Francisco 49ers Analysis
The 49ers have had to face a ton of adversity with injuries as many teams have so far this season. Nick Mullens leads the team in passing yards, which might say it all about the injury scenario. He made some really bad passes against the Eagles, and it led to CJ Beathard taking over. Now both have had their moments, but this might shut a lot of people up about Jimmy Garoppolo. He might be back this week and despite missing two games he still leads in passing touchdowns. Now the rest of the team is starting to get healthier. Raheem Mostert has begun to practice this week. He had an excellent first two weeks with 148 yards on 23 touches. He also had a touchdown on the ground. San Francisco also has two receiving backs worth looking at this week. Mostert had 110 yards and a touchdown, while McKinnon has 102 yards and a touchdown through four games. The 49ers desperately missed George Kittle and the fact he missed two games and still leads the team in receiving yards says a lot (227).
Defensively the 49ers have had a lot of injury issues. While they have faced some lackluster offenses so far this season, they have still done well holding teams to under 200 yards. However, this week isn’t one where I am expecting a monster defensive performance. They have done well against the run and Myles Gaskin has a tough task against this defense.

Betting Corner: 49ers
Spread: SF -9
Moneyline: MIA +330 / SF -380
Over/Under: 48
San Francisco is heavy favorites and it is hard to tell with this spread who the oddsmakers expect back because nine-point favorites are rather large for a 49ers team that is very banged up and a Miami team that is decent enough to cover the spread. Both teams are 2-2 ATS this season and the over is less than .500 for both teams as well. I like the over quite a bit in this one, regardless of the 49ers situation with injuries. Miami’s defense is still not very good and the 49ers defense is missing a ton of names. Public money is on the over and the over has been favorable this season as defenses continue to struggle to come off an irregular offseason. Now the spread I am less than comfortable with but Miami is an intriguing cover given it is +9. Miami hung tight against Seattle this past week and the offense is able to put up some numbers.

Daily Fantasy Picks
Now this game has some potential for fantasy but injuries will play a part in who I like. If Raheem Mostert comes back, I am a little hesitant about playing him and McKinnon at heightened price tags, but it is a great matchup as the Dolphins rank 24th against opposing running backs this season. While they can certainly still produce, there is a battle of picking the right one and of course, the touchdown dependency comes into play at their price. Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel are getting well involved in the offense. Both are huge options for whoever is under center, and while I like them more with Jimmy G playing, the other two quarterbacks are still serviceable. George Kittle is of course the top play from this game coming off a monster week but is the top option moving forward. For Miami, Mike Gesicki and DeVante Parker are the two names I prefer the most. This 49ers defense is completely downgraded because of the injuries this year. Both have seen the most volume in this offense and should be lower owned.
