Miami Heat vs. New York Knicks Matchup Preview (2/25/22)
Two teams on completely different momentum swings will battle when the Miami Heat head north to “The Big Apple” for a showdown with the Knicks. The Knicks are 1-7 in their past eight games, while the Heat are 6-1 in their past seven. Ironically, New York beat Golden State, which has the second-best record in the NBA, in its only win. It seems that the Knicks may be committing to a tank for the rest of the season; however, we will know for sure one way or another very soon. If Barrett returns, the Knicks may not be hanging it up quite yet.
The Miami Heat are definitely red-hot, with their only loss since February 2nd coming against a solid Dallas Mavericks team that has rallied together since moving on from forward Kristaps Porzingis. While the loss of Porzingis hurts from a statistical standpoint, the Mavs were able to bring in Davis Bertans and Spencer Dinwiddie, who can help add some much-needed depth. Dallas had obvious chemistry issues with Porzingis and Luka Doncic, so moving Kristaps made a lot of sense and could help the Mavs push for a higher position in the Western Conference.

Miami Heat vs. New York Knicks Betting Odds
There are very few situations that could happen that would move me off of the Miami Heat in this game short of R.J. Barrett and Derrick Rose both being cleared to return. This season, I have blacklisted the New York Knicks in every way, shape, and form in terms of betting, including games they are playing in. Still, I have the utmost confidence in this Heat team that is constantly developing chemistry and is near full health. The fact that the Heat have Bam Adebayo available to try and slow down Julius Randle is another reason I feel extremely confident in the Heat against the spread. As long as Rose and Barrett don’t return, I like the Heat against the spread, but be wary of betting on any games that feature the Knicks.

Miami Heat Analysis
The Miami Heat are trending to be fully healthy in the next few weeks. Tyler Herro and Dewayne Dedmon are day-to-day but will likely give it a go in New York. The only players listed as out are Victor Oladipo, Caleb Martin, and Markieff Morris; however, Oladipo is back to playing in five-on-five games in practice, which indicates he is close to coming back, and Morris has stated that he will be back at some point this season, probably in time for the playoffs. Meanwhile, Martin is likely to return before Oladipo and Morris. If the Heat can avoid any further significant injuries, this team will be frightening to see in a few months. They have not even peaked and still sit in first place in a competitive Eastern Conference.
New York Knicks Starting Lineup
PG: Alec Burks
SG: Quentin Grimes
SF: Evan Fournier
PF: Julius Randle

New York Knicks Analysis
With the news that Kemba Walker will be sitting for the New York Knicks for the rest of the season, it seems that this team has given up on making the playoffs. Kemba may not be a spectacular option at guard, but the Knicks do not have many alternative options. New York is 1-7 in its past eight games, with its only win coming in a strange win against the Golden State Warriors. Surprisingly, the Knicks did not make any big trade deadline moves to try and enter a rebuild mode, but perhaps they will this off-season. None of the players seem bought in at this point, and I would not be shocked if Tom Thibodeau’s seat gets a little hotter. If the Knicks put R.J. Barrett back into the lineup after he is healed, they could still win some games. We don’t know if Barrett will be available for this matchup yet.
Miami Heat vs. New York Knicks Daily Fantasy Picks
I usually hesitate when recommending any DFS players from the Miami Heat because of how dispersed the offensive workload can be from one game to the next. Sometimes Jimmy Butler pops off for 30 points and many assists and rebounds, but then the next game merely drops 13 points. You never know whether or not Duncan Robinson will be on fire and go for 20+ points or if he ends with five points on a mediocre shooting night. The most consistent DFS player from the Heat is probably Bam Adebayo, who, more often than not, finishes with a double-double. Tyler Herro is another good option, but make sure to check and see if he is cleared to go a few minutes before the start of the game.
Julius Randle has been on an absolute tear over his past seven games, averaging nearly 30 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists per game on 46% from the field and 80% from the charity stripe. Randle has had a shaky season after winning the Most Improved Player award last season but has stepped up in a huge way recently. Unfortunately, that has not ended in wins for the New York Knicks, but we could not care less for us as DFS players. The important thing is that Randle has been playing out of his mind and is worth every penny in salary at the moment.
