Milwaukee Brewers Vs. Marcus Stroman (R)

Christian Yelich is the focal point of the Brewers offense, but he is coming off a tough 2021 season, hitting .248 with nine home runs and 51 runs batted in. The 2018 National League MVP had 149 total bases with an OPS of .736 last year. The back-to-back batting champion in 2018 and 2019, hit .271 off righties with seven home runs in 2021.  He did have any at-bats against Stroman last year.  Last season as a member of the Boston Red Sox, Hunter Renfroe .259 with 31 home runs and 96 runs batted in.  The 30-year-old has a career OPS of .786 with 128 long balls.  Against righties, he hit .250 in 364 plate appearance while also hitting 20 home runs and driving in 63 runs.  In two at bats against Stroman in 2021, Renfroe had one hit.  Andrew McCutchen who’ll DH most of the time for the Brewers hit .222 with 27 home runs and 80 runs batted in for the Phillies last year.  The 2013 National League MVP is a lifetime .280 hitter with 1,828 hits and 3,104 total bases.  Against Stroman last year while he was with the Mets, McCutchen had three hits in seven at-bats; including two runs batted in and an OPS of .946.

Willy Adames hit .285 with 25 big flies, 73 runs batted and slugged .481 while playing for Tampa Bay Rays and Milwaukee Brewers in 2021.  Against Stroman in 2021, Adames had four hits (one home run and three runs batted in) in six at-bats for an OPS of 1.833.

Marcus Stroman started 33 games for the New York Mets in 2021 going 10-13 with an ERA of 3.02.  He threw 179 innings, striking out 158 while allowing 161 hits and 60 earned runs.

Chicago Cubs Vs. Freddy Peralta (R)

Wilson Contreras is a solid catcher, who can handle the bat well.  As a veteran on the club, he’s expected to be one of the team leaders.  In 2021 he hit .237 with 21 home runs and 57 runs batted in while accumulating 181 total bases.  In 12 at-bats against Freddy Peralta last season, he had three hits (one home run and three runs batted in) in 12 at-bats.  2016 World Series champion, Jason Heyward is another veteran presence on the Cubs.  Playing in 104 games last season, Heyward hit .214 with eight home runs and 30 runs batted in.  In the season opener, he was two for four in the Cubs victory.  He has 592 hits in 697 career games as a Chicago Cub.  In 12 at-bats against Peralta last season, Heyward had one hit and one RBI.

Nick Madrigal who came over from the White Sox last season, hit .305 with two home runs, 21 runs batted in, 85 total bases and a .349 on-base percentage.  Against right-handed pitchers, he hit .277 with 16 runs batted in.  Patrick Wisdom was a revelation for Chicago last year mashing 28 homers, driving in 61 runs in 106 games.  The third baseman was one for two in two at-bats against the Brewers Peralta. 

Freddy Peralta started 27 games in 2021 for the Milwaukee Brewers going 10-5 with an ERA of 2.81: earning his first berth as an All-Star.  He threw 144 ½ innings, 195 strikeouts while allowing 84 hits and 45 earned runs.
