Milwaukee Bucks vs. Memphis Grizzlies Matchup Preview (3/26/22)
On Saturday night, Memphis will be hosting the defending champion, Milwaukee Bucks, for this non-conference matchup between two title contenders! Memphis has been absolutely unbelievable this season, far exceeding its expectations for the season. It will be without Ja Morant again due to a lingering knee injury; however, the Grizzlies have been 15-2 without Morant this season, so they will still be competitive for this matchup. With the Warriors’ recent tumble from atop the Western Conference, Memphis should have no issue securing the No. 2 seed before the NBA playoffs.
Meanwhile, Milwaukee has quietly been one of the top teams in the league, playing its best basketball of the season right before the playoffs start. The Bucks have won ten of their past 12 games, with most of those wins coming convincingly. Additionally, Brook Lopez has returned from a back injury that has kept him out for the 2021-22 NBA season until this point. Lopez is an integral part of this Bucks squad, and his return makes them dangerous, especially with how well Bobby Portis has played. The depth of this Bucks team is impressive now, especially in the frontcourt. Under the betting odds section, I cover the different possible outcomes for this game and who I think will pull through in the end!
Milwaukee Bucks vs. Memphis Grizzlies Betting Odds
My mind wants to go with the Milwaukee Bucks against the spread, but my heart wants to lean towards the Memphis Grizzlies to cover at home. The Grizzlies are the second-best team in the NBA against the spread as the home team with a 23-13 record; however, Milwaukee is not bad on the road ATS either. Memphis has been so solid this season in games without Ja Morant, and I doubt it will be a home favorite in this game, even though it is 15-2 without him. If the Grizzlies are slight home dogs, I will take them against the spread. However, if they are favorites, I don’t want to bet on it simply because of how well the Milwaukee Bucks have played in the past month.

Milwaukee Bucks Analysis
Other happenings in the NBA have wholly overshadowed the return of Brook Lopez into the lineup; however, this is by far one of the most important things to happen to any team this season. Lopez is a highly underrated contributor for this Bucks team, and it also allows Milwaukee to bring Bobby Portis off the bench, who has shot the lights out this season. That will come in handy during the playoffs when injuries happen, and depth is imperative. Milwaukee is fully healthy for the first time all season, though, so expect this experienced, championship-caliber team to turn it on by the time the playoffs come along.

Memphis Grizzlies Analysis
You probably would not have believed me if I told you that the Memphis Grizzlies would be the second-best team in the Western Conference by the end of the regular season. Furthermore, if I said that the Grizzlies would be 15-2 without Ja Morant on the season, not only would you not believe me, but you would probably stop conversing with me about anything NBA-related. Regardless, that is the reality that we live in this season; it is so much fun. Let’s change topics quickly and talk about a massive thing for the Grizzlies: they finally got Dillon Brooks back from injury. Brooks is an enormous part of the Grizzlies’ winning culture, and having him around gives them another defensive-minded player who can shoot and score at a high level. Brooks could be the difference between making a championship run versus losing in the Western Conference Semi-Finals; his importance cannot be overstated.
Milwaukee Bucks vs. Memphis Grizzlies Daily Fantasy Picks
Brook Lopez has quickly ramped up his minutes per game, going from just over 14 minutes to nearly 30 minutes per game in just five games. Lopez has posted close to 13 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two blocks per game on 50% from the field in his past three games. Lopez has been very efficient, considering that he came off a somewhat severe back injury and has not played in NBA games in roughly nine months. Luckily, you can still grab Lopez at a low salary because he just returned and has not posted any massive games yet. Additionally, despite putting up solid numbers, Lopez is merely averaging 20% from deep, which means he is an obvious candidate for an increase in points. Consider Lopez in DFS for the remainder of the season, especially for matchups where the opposing team has a traditional big man that does not excel in closing out on the perimeter.
Since Ja Morant will be out for the Grizzlies’ home game against the Milwaukee Bucks due to a lingering knee injury, Desmond Bane may be the next best DFS option. Bane has solidified himself as an elite secondary scoring option for the Grizzlies and a terrific complement to Ja Morant in the backcourt. In March, Bane played four games without Morant and averaged close to 25 points, six assists, and five rebounds in those bouts. Additionally, Bane has played exceptionally well over the past week, particularly with an incredibly similar offensive output. Bane is the primary option for the Grizzlies when Ja Morant is out; therefore, he should be viewed as such in DFS. It is also an advantageous matchup for Bane, as the Milwaukee Bucks allow a lot of offense and play at a fast pace.
