Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Golden State Warriors Matchup Preview (11/10/21)
The red-hot Golden State Warriors (9-1) will welcome the Timberwolves (3-6) with open arms for their Wednesday matchup between two polar opposite Western Conference teams. After a relatively strong start to the 2021-22 NBA season, Minnesota has lost its past five games. It will have D’Angelo Russell in the lineup after he sustained an ankle injury recently; he had 30 points in his explosive return on Monday. Meanwhile, the Warriors will look to continue their five-game winning streak against a struggling team this season on the offensive end.
Minnesota will need another huge game from Russell, as well as standout performances from Karl Anthony-Towns and Anthony Edwards to sneak out a road win against the top-ranked team in the NBA. The Golden State Warriors are the real deal, and scoring on them will be extremely tough, especially at home, where they have allowed less than 100 points to opponents this season. On that note, the Timberwolves need to lock up defensively; they are 18th in opponent points per game and 23rd in opponent 3P% (three-point percentage), which isn’t terrible. However, they will need to have a phenomenal night on that end of the floor to slow down the Warriors’ offense enough to outscore them.
Golden State has a fairly simple job to get a win at home against an underwhelming Timberwolves squad: don’t let them score 100 points. The Warriors have scored over 100 points in every single game this year while allowing opponents to score an average of fewer than 100 points per game. They rank first in the NBA in points per game and are one of the best home teams in the league. Minnesota ranks in the bottom half of virtually every team offensive statistic, so Golden State should not have a problem keeping the Timberwolves from scoring.
Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Golden State Warriors Betting Odds
At the moment, sportsbooks have not dropped odds on this game. Once they are available, an odds table above this will update periodically as the lines move, giving you the best odds out of all the major sportsbooks.
Minnesota should be double-digit underdogs on the road against an extremely tough Warriors squad. The Timberwolves are riding a five-game losing streak and can’t seem to catch a break. With that being said, D’Angelo Russell should be back in the lineup as he returned from his injury on Monday and dropped 30 points. While the Timberwolves did lose that game against the Grizzlies in overtime, they did give themselves a chance to win. Golden State should win this game, regardless of Russell’s availability, likely by double-digits. Go with the Warriors ATS.

Minnesota Timberwolves Analysis
It has been a tumultuous journey for the Minnesota Timberwolves over the past ten years. This season has not been any less volatile for them. After a promising start to the 2021-22 season, Minnesota has dropped its past five games to the Grizzlies, Clippers (twice), Magic, and Nuggets. Now, it must travel to San Francisco to take on the Warriors, who may be the best team in the NBA, even without James Wiseman and Klay Thompson. Luckily, Minnesota will have D’Angelo Russell back for this bout after an ankle injury sidelined him for a few games. He officially returned on Monday and had a huge 30-point outing against the Grizzlies. Russell’s presence should help elevate the Wolves’ offense which ranks 23rd in points per game, 25th in offensive efficiency, 27th in eFG% (effective field goal percentage), and 23rd in 3P% (three-point percentage).
Golden State Warriors Starting Lineup
PG: Steph Curry
SG: Jordan Poole
SF: Andrew Wiggins
PF: Draymond Green
C: Kevon Looney
Golden State Warriors Analysis
Steph Curry just exploded for 50 points in the Warriors’ last game against the Atlanta Hawks as Golden State keeps winning. The Warriors have a 9-1 record, which is the best in the NBA, while Curry is again towards the top of the potential MVP ladder early in the 2021-22 NBA season. Golden State ranks at the top, or near it, in every meaningful team statistic, and there have not been any teams that have been able to contain this offense. Currently, the Warriors are second in 3P%, first in points per game, and first in eFG%, despite not having James Wiseman or Klay Thompson back from injuries.
Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Golden State Warriors Daily Fantasy Picks
Anthony Edwards has taken a huge step forward in his second year in the NBA. After averaging just shy of 20 points per game as a rookie, he has followed that up with 23 points per game through eight games. Edwards is the second-leading scorer for the Minnesota Timberwolves, behind only Karl Anthony-Towns. His athletic prowess has made him a scoring threat. Still, there is the possibility of further progression even just this year as he is shooting merely 40.8% from the floor and 29.9% from three. Edwards is by no means an elite shooter, but he is much better than those numbers. Eventually, he should have a breakthrough leading to a hot streak with several 30-point games.
Steph Curry is coming off an absolutely huge game against the Atlanta Hawks at home; he had 50 points, ten assists, seven rebounds, and three steals. Curry was due for another breakout game as his past four games before that combined for 74 points. He averages 27.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game and is at the top of the MVP ladder for the 2021-22 season. Curry’s DFS value is always justified since he can explode on any given night, and having him in your lineup can be a difference-maker.
