Revisiting

Adbert Alzolay (SP) – 10.4% Rostered
With Hamels going down with an injury in yesterday’s game, it looks like Alzolay is going to be given a shot to stay in the rotation. In his last start against the Braves, he went 4.2 innings giving up just 1 hit and 1 run. It was the same outcome as his first outing in which his only hit/run given up was a solo HR. In his two appearances, he fanned 9 batters in a total of 8.2 innings pitched.

Mike Fiers (SP) 40.2% Rostered
Fiers’ ownership went up by 11.6% in the last week alone. In his last outing against the Angels, he went a cool 6 innings giving up just 1 earned run, fanning 4. He picked up the W after allowing 6 hits and exited the game with a WHIP of 1.05. If he’s still around, grab him! He might have been taken in the last week, though.

Pitchers To Pick Up

Dakota Hudson (SP), (CP) – 27.2% Rostered
Dakota Hudson is one of those special pitchers that is listed as both a closing pitcher and starter, so he can fill out a relief pitching spot quite nicely. In his last go, he went 7.0 innings giving up 5 hits and 1 earned run, fanning 5. He only allowed one free pass, and he finished the start with an impressive WHIP of 0.86.

Elieser Hernandez (SP), (RP) 2.0% Rostered
Hernandez is another pitcher who can fit into either a SP or RP spot. He isn’t the strongest of pitchers, but any time you can fit a starter into a relief spot, it’s worth the edge. His last start came on 6/28 against the Phillies where he went 5.2 innings. He allowed 2 earned runs on 3 hits and fanned 7. It was one of his stronger outings of the year as he finished the day with a WHIP of 0.88.
