  • Kyle Lowry will miss his eighth game out of the last nine with a back injury. The Raptors are 4-4 in that stretch and have been a much better team this year with Lowry on the floor.
  • Kawhi Leonard is averaging 29 points and 8 rebounds in the last eight, and Fred VanVleet is adding 14 and 4 assists as a starter.
  • Rudy Gobert is coming off a season-high 25 points and 16 boards in just 25 minutes of a blowout win over the Knicks.

Detroit Pistons (16-18) at Milwaukee Bucks (20-9)

Bucks: 117 ppg, top five defense, top five pace

Pistons: 108 ppg, above average defense, average pace


  • The Bucks are hot and the Pistons are not, as Detroit went 4-11 in December and Milwaukee went 10-4.
  • Milwaukee is 16-3 at home, and the Pistons are just 5-10 on the road.
  • Should be a fun matchup between dynamic big men Blake Griffin (25 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (27 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists) face off.

New York Knicks (9-28) at Denver Nuggets (23-11)

Line: Nuggets -14

Knicks: 109 ppg, bottom five defense, average pace

Nuggets: 110 ppg, top ten defense, bottom five pace


  • Denver is one of the top teams out West, and they just got Paul Millsap back.
  • Nikola Jokic is averaging 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists in his last ten games.
  • The Knicks are in full on tank mode, winning just two games in December.
  • Enes Kanter averages 14 points and 11 rebounds per game, and he’s questionable for this one.

Portland Trail Blazers (21-16) at Sacramento Kings (19-17)

Kings: 115 ppg, bottom-third defense, second-fastest pace

Trail Blazers: 111 ppg, fourth-ranked defense, average pace


  • This should be a fun, high scoring game between two teams jockeying for position in the middle of a very deep Western Conference.
  • Second-year stud De’Aaron Fox is averaging 19 points, 9 assists, and 3 steals in his last five games.
  • Fox will do his best to limit Damian Lillard, who adds 27 points and 6 assists per game on the year.

  • The Sixers certainly missed Joel Embiid in a 129-95 loss in Portland. He’s listed as questionable for this one with a knee.
  • Embiid is averaging 27 points, 13 boards, and 2 blocks per game for Philly.
  • Lou Williams is kicking in 22 points and 7 assists off the bench since returning from injury in the middle of December.
