New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins Matchup Preview 9/15/19: Analysis, Depth Charts, Daily Fantasy

Looking for information about the upcoming 2020 fantasy football season? You came to the right place, don’t miss out on our fantasy football rankings & projections. We didn’t forget about the defense either with our rankings. Also, we have DFS players covered with projections for them as well. Everything you could need to a positive season is here on lineups.

This will be the most lopsided matchup in week 2. The Dolphins come into week 2 after getting blown out by the Ravens 59-10 at home. Their defense could not stop anything on the ground or through the air and the offense was just no match for the Ravens defense. Now, the Dolphins face another tough test at home against the Patriots, who arguably have a better offense and defense than the Ravens. However, when the Patriots and Dolphins play in Miami, it is usually a close game. The Dolphins have won five out of the last six games against the Patriots in Miami. That being said, the Patriots should win this game easily. The Dolphins roster has barely any talent, as they are in the process of a complete rebuild. The Patriots’ history of playing the Dolphins in Miami does not mean a thing this year. For the last few years, the Dolphins team has been decent, but not anymore. They have virtually no chance of beating the Patriots. For odds movement and full matchup history on the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins Matchup Page.

New England Patriots Analysis

New England PatriotsAntonio Brown. That is the name that has been in the news a lot recently. I am not going to speculate on what is going through his mind, or try to analyze this weird video he posted on YouTube, or contemplate how deliberate his departure from Oakland was. What matters now is that a top-5 receiver joined a team that is already the favorite to win the superbowl. Another thing that matters is his outlook in terms of fantasy football. I would not expect Brown to have a huge impact on this game because he is new the the Patriots system and the Patriots do not need him to win this game. He could become very productive in the coming weeks if he does decide to stay with the team.

Even before the acquisition of Brown, the Patriots were one of the top offenses in the league, as they demonstrated in week 1 against the Steelers. Julian Edelman and Josh Gordon had solid games from the receiver position, but Phillip Dorsett really showed off his speed, stretching the field for 95 yards and 2 touchdowns. The running back committee for the Patriots performed well, but no single running back stood out. James White continues to be the primary catching back and had a solid game, while Sony Michel struggled with 15 carries for 14 yards. Michel will have a much better game this week because the Dolphins run defense is so weak. Look for Belichick to exploit this weekend by running straight up the middle with Michel often.

Miami Dolphins Analysis

Miami DolphinsThe Dolphins have been a mess following their blowout loss against the Ravens. There are rumors that several Dolphins players asked their agents to get them out of Miami because they do not want to waste their numbered playing years for a team that is tanking. Though the Dolphins have denied that they are tanking, they clearly are tanking. They are not in a position to be competitive this season. From a fantasy football perspective, there are a few relevant players for the Dolphins. Last week, Devante Parker had 75 receiving yards and rookie Preston Williams had 24 yards and a touchdown. Those are by no means impressive numbers, but they are solid for fantasy football players.

For this game, I would not look for Dolphins players to be productive. The defense of the Patriots will be too much for any Dolphins players to get going on offense. The Dolphins started off the season with a crushing loss at home, they have another difficult matchup at home this week, and will face the Cowboys and Chargers in weeks 3 and 4. It is going to be a rough few games for the Dolphins.

Daily Fantasy: Patriots Run Over Dolphins Defense

Sony Michel (DK: $6,200, FD: $6,800) is going to have a big game this week. He is the primary back for the Patriots and should see a high volume of carries against a weak Dolphins team. He is a very good pick for lineups on FanDuel, where his salary is relatively low. Also out of the Patriots backfield, James White (DK: $6,900, FD: $6,300) will have a good game, catching passes and getting occasional carries. As for receivers, Julian Edelman (DK: $5,100, FD: $7,100) always gets a good share of targets, and should continue to receive targets, even with Antonio Brown (DK: $7,000, FD: $7,800) in the depth chart. I would not select Brown this week because the Patriots might not play him very much in his debut. The Patriots D/ST (DK: $3,700, FD: $4,900) is another good pick for this game as well. I would stay away from all Dolphins players for this week. This matchup is just so unfavorable to them, that I see no fantasy value in their players.
