New York Yankees Vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Picks & Prediction

Offensively, the Yankees are scoring 5.04 runs per nine innings, second overall in MLB.  They have a team batting average of .238, 20th in the league, and their OPS is .753, fourth in baseball.  New York’s pitching staff is allowing 3.02 runs per nine innings, first in MLB with opponents’ batting .212 with an OPS of .617 against the club, second in the big leagues in both categories.

Pittsburgh is averaging 3.78 runs per nine innings, 28th in Major League Baseball. They have a team batting average of .221, 28th in the league, and their OPS is .662, 28th in all of MLB.  The Pirates’ pitching staff is allowing 5.29 runs per nine innings, 27th in the league with opponents’ batting .256 against the team, 25th in MLB.

I’ll go with the Yankees in this game as they are the second highest scoring club in major league baseball while the Pirates are in the bottom part of the big leagues in runs allowed per game.  New York covers the 1.5 run spread and earns another road victory in 2022.
