NFL Trade Tracker 2020

The NFL isn’t loaded with major trades like baseball or basketball, but it is something we need to follow. This offseason is going to be an interesting one in comparison to the past few years. There are a lot of teams on the bubble in terms of making a playoff jump, and they will be looking to make moves to get them to that point. With the 2020 NFL Draft concluded, there might be one or two more big trades that might unfold. Given the circumstances surrounding the season, that would give us a bigger selection of trades.

Chicago Bears & Miami Dolphins (July 25th, 2020)

Bears Receive: 2021 6th Round Pick
Dolphins Receive: TE Adam Shaheen

Lineups Analysis: Chicago has begun to narrow down their tight end options after having an abundance of them after the draft. Nothing sexy here, but Miami gets a decent tight end for depth.

Seattle Seahawks & New York Jets (July 25th, 2020)

Seahawks Receive: SS Jamal Adams, 2022 4th Round Pick
Jets Receive: SS Bradley McDougald, 2021 1st Round Pick, 2022 1st Round Pick, 2021 3rd Round Pick

Lineups Analysis: Rarely do we get a middle of the summer blockbuster trade, and after Jamal Adam’s displeasure with the New York organization, he has found himself in Seattle. This bolsters the Seahawks secondary as they get one of the best defensive players in the league. New York gets a healthy return of picks, which isn’t bad for a player who has voiced his displeasure and wanted out.

Indianapolis Colts & New York Jets (April 25th, 2020)

Colts Receive: 2020 6th Round Pick
Jets Receive: CB Quincy Wilson

Lineups Analysis: The Colts shipped out some excess depth for a 6th round pick. Wilson will have a chance to turn things around in New York.

Philadelphia Eagles & San Francisco 49ers (April 25th, 2020)

Eagles Receive: WR Marquise Goodwin & 2020 6th Round Pick
49ers Receive: 2020 6th Round Pick

Lineups Analysis: The Eagles drafted Jalen Raegor from TCU in the draft, but traded for Marquise Goodwin as well. Goodwin struggled to gain consistency in San Francisco last season and will have a chance on what is still a limited receiving core in Philadelphia.

Miami Dolphins & San Francisco 49ers (April 25th, 2020)

Dolphins Receive: RB Matt Breida
49ers Receive: 2020 5th Round Pick

Lineups Analysis: Miami opted not to grab one of the top running backs in the draft, and instead ended up trading a 5th round pick for Matt Breida. This is an excellent move for Breida, as he will compliment Jordan Howard in the backfield. Raheem Mostert is a big winner in San Francisco as the three-man committee has shrunk down.

San Francisco 49ers & Washington Redskins (April 25th, 2020)

49ers Receive: LT Trent Williams
Redskins Receive: 2020 5th Round Pick, 2021 3rd Round Pick

Lineups Analysis: Trent Williams finally got his wish to get out of Washington. There were some rumors of him going to Minnesota, but San Francisco is where he will end up. San Francisco dished out a few picks for one of the top tackles in the game, so not a bad grab here. Washington as at least able to get something as well.

New England Patriots & Tampa Bay Buccaneers (April 21st, 2020)

Patriots Receive: 2020 4th Round Pick
Buccaneers Receive: TE Rob Gronkowski & 7th Round Pick

Lineups Analysis: Whenever you can trade a retired player for a 4th round pick, you should do it. New England shipped off Rob Gronkowski to Tampa Bay, so he can play with his old bud. The Buccaneers now have three tight ends on the roster, and the speculation points to O.J. Howard being the odd man out of town via a trade. We won’t really know what Gronkowski has to offer at this point, but it certainly is adding to the hype of Tampa Bay.

Houston Texans & Los Angeles Rams (April 9th, 2020)

Texans Receive: WR Brandin Cooks & 2022 4th Round Pick
Rams Receive: 2020 2nd Round Pick

Lineups Analysis: The Texans added Brandin Cooks from the Los Angeles Rams, who was fizzled out of the offense late last year. Los Angeles gets a 2020 2nd round pick, which is great value for Cooks and a 4th round, especially with the wide receiver depth they have already. Houston’s bone-headed offseason continues.

Carolina Panthers & Washington Redskins (March 23rd, 2020)

Panthers Receive: 2020 5th Round Pick
Redskins Receive: QB Kyle Allen

Lineups Analysis: After the Carolina Panthers signed PJ Walker from the XFL, they traded Kyle Allen to the Redskins. Not sure what Washington’s need here for Kyle Allen is, but getting a 5th round pick in return is decent for Carolina.

Seattle Seahawks & Washington Redskins (March 23rd, 2020)

Seahawks Receive: CB Quinton Dunbar
Redskins Receive: 2020 5th Round Pick

Lineups Analysis: Quinton Dunbar had a strong 2019 season, and will make his way to Seattle now. The Seahawks were in need of some defensive help, and this is a solid deal for them trading a 5th round pick.

Detroit Lions & Philadelphia Eagles (March 19th, 2020)

Lions Receive: 2020 3rd Round Pick, 2020 5th Round Pick
Eagles Receive: CB Darius Slay

Lineups Analysis: Philadelphia desperately needed to upgrade their secondary, and adding Darius Slay is going to give them one of the top corners in the game. Detroit will likely fill his spot through the draft, but overall it isn’t building their defense, it is simply trying to replace a big name they had.

Chicago Bears & Jacksonville Jaguars (March 18th, 2020)

Bears Receive: QB Nick Foles
Jaguars Receive: 2020 4th Round Pick

Lineups Analysis: The tank is on for Jacksonville, as they are firmly in the running for the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes. Chicago picks up Nick Foles in hopes he can either challenge Mitch Trubisky or take over the starting job and get the Bears back on track.

Denver Broncos & Tennessee Titans (March 18th, 2020)

Broncos Receive: DL Jurrell Casey
Titans Receive: 2020 Picks

Lineups Analysis: Tennessee moved on from Jurrell Casey, who had a high salary coming into 2020. This bodes well for Denver who gets an upgrade on their defensive line. The Broncos are quietly having a very strong offseason.

Detroit Lions & New England Patriots (March 18th, 2020)

Lions Receive: Duron Harmon
Patriots Receive: 2020 Picks

Lineups Analysis: Another Patriot is on the move to Detroit, just a day after the Lions signed Jaime Collins. Detroit will get some depth at the safety position, while New England clears some cap.

Minnesota Vikings & Buffalo Bills (March 16th, 2020)

Vikings Receive: 2020 1st Round Pick, 5th Round Pick, 6th Round Pick, 2021 4th Round Pick
Bills Receive: WR Stefon Diggs, 2020 7th Round Pick

Lineups Analysis: There have been grumblings for a while that Stefon Diggs was going to be on the move, and that day finally came. He was shipped to Buffalo, for a haul of picks, which includes the Bills 2020 first round pick. Diggs fetched more of a return than DeAndre Hopkins, which says more about the Texans trade. Buffalo is loading up on weapons while Minnesota will have some draft capital.

San Francisco 49ers & Indianapolis Colts (March 16th, 2020)

49ers Receive: 2020 1st Round Pick
Colts Receive: DT DeForest Buckner

Lineups Analysis: The Colts will be sending their 13th overall pick, which suggests they will not add a quarterback through the draft. They also lose a chance at nabbing one of the top wide receivers within this draft. However, they will add one of the best defensive tackles in the game, but he does come at a high price. The 49ers add a draft pick, and do have Armstrong already at the position.

Atlanta Falcons & Baltimore Ravens (March 16th, 2020)

Falcons Receive: TE Hayden Hurst and 2020 4th Round Pick
Ravens Receive: 2020 2nd Round Pick and 5th Round Pick

Lineups Analysis: After losing Austin Hooper to free agency, the Falcons quickly went out and traded for Hayden Hurst. Baltimore had plenty of tight ends to give away, and Atlanta gets some talent here as well. Overall a decent haul for both sides.

Arizona Cardinals & Houston Texans (March 16th, 2020)

Cardinals Receive: WR DeAndre Hopkins and 2020 4th Round Pick
Texans Receive: RB David Johnson and 2nd Round Pick

Lineups Analysis: The bombshell of the day has been that Houston is trading DeAndre Hopkins to Arizona for David Johnson. With Arizona franchise tagging Kenyan Drake, their skill position players could not look much better. Kyler Murray and this offense just got a major bump, while Houston’s has plummeted.

Baltimore Ravens & Jacksonville Jaguars (March 15th, 2020)

Ravens Receive: DT Calais Campbell
Jaguars Receive: 2020 5th Round Pick

Lineups Analysis: After the Jaguars traded away AJ Bouye for scraps, they have done the same with Calais Campbell. Baltimore gets a terrific addition for their defense, and even if he leaves in free agency next year they would receive a draft pick. Overall the Jaguars are selling the house and look to be heading for a tank year.

Carolina Panthers & Los Angeles Chargers (March 4th, 2020)

Panthers Receive: T Russell Okung
Chargers Receive: G Trai Turner

Lineups Analysis: Two of the team’s stronger offensive lineman will be on their way out. Russell Okung was a Pro Bowl lineman, as was Trai Turner. Nothing more than a swap here, although Turner is the younger of the two.

Jacksonville Jaguars & Denver Broncos (March 3rd, 2020)

Jaguars Receive: 2020 4th Round Pick
Broncos Receive: CB A.J. Bouye

Lineups Analysis: Denver is looking to bolster their secondary, which will take a hit this offseason. They did just that with adding A.J. Bouye. Jacksonville will receive a 4th round pick for the upcoming draft in return. A bit of a question mark once again on the Jaguars side, as this secondary is not looking to be in good shape heading into 2020.
