Orlando Magic vs. New York Knicks Player Prop Picks
Orlando Magic vs. New York Knicks tips off this Monday at 3:00pm EST in New York City New York as a home game for the Knicks. The Magic are currently a +6.5 underdog and +215 on the moneyline while the total is set at 220.5. Expect an underwhelming performance from Paolo Banchero while Jalen Brunson struggles to create spacing, all giving value as player props for this Orlando Magic vs. New York Knicks matchup.
Paolo Banchero Under 26.5 Points
With the Magic dealing with numerous injuries to productive offensive players, Paolo Banchero has had to take on a heavier workload to will this offense to life. While the volume alone makes this under scary, the matchup against the Knicks interior defense is more than capable of drastically slowing him down.
Especially with minimal help from the outside, allowing the Knicks to crash down into the paint. Paolo does a majority of his damage in the interior as he only averages slightly more than one made three per contest. With little to no consistent help from deep, as well as playing a true big at center, the Knicks can anchor Isaiah Hartenstein to help contest every drive that Paolo does for a low-quality shot attempt.
Julius Randle also plays as a stretch athletic big, being able to comfortably leave the paint to help contest Paolo threes as well. Expect Paolo to try and take him off the dribble as the quicker forward, running into a Knicks wall in the interior. Paolo has also increased his average assists per game from his rookie career and may opt into the idea of more passing on his drives while he commands the defensive attention as well.
Paolo Banchero Under 7.5 Rebounds
Not only will Paolo struggle in the scoring department, but rebounds may come at a premium as well as he draws a tough matchup on the boards. His own center is more of a true center in that he anchors the paint on both ends while the Knicks are the number one team in Total Rebounding Percentage per TeamRankings.
Factor in the game plan centering around his drives into contact and second chance rebounds should come at a minimal rate as well. Offensive rebounds can kill a under rebounding prop in a pinch, giving relief that they may struggle to happen on that end. With Goga on the defensive end, Paolo may turn to him to grab the rebound while he leaks out to set up a fast break opportunity.
Jalen Brunson Under 7.5 Assists
Jalen Brunson was originally listed as doubtful heading into this matchup, now looking like he will be able to give it a go as he upgraded to questionable with his calf injury. Should he be able to play, expect Brunson to be at less than 100% while he has to try and create production against one of the best defenses in the league.

The Magic excel at smothering three pointers, ranking eighth in Opposing Three Point Percentage and have held opposing offenses to just 30.4% in their last three contests. That’s detrimental to a Knicks offense who thrives off of threes, lessening the chance for an assist while Brunson drives and kicks out to a shooter.
As for the Magic’s interior defense, they dip down to 16th as opposing offenses have found more success at attacking the rim. That plays into Brunson’s hands as he is a slashing scoring guard, being able to take his opponent off the dribble and stop and pop in the paint. With the acquisition of OG Anunoby, Brunson can play off the ball as well now which hampers his assists rate to our under tickets benefit.
Isaiah Hartenstein First Basket Scorer
This is normally not a market that I attack, yet the odds are too juicy to ignore as Hartenstein is in an intriguing spot in this matchup. He’s by no means a go-to scorer for the Knicks when they are on offense, but he benefits from Orlando’s struggles with interior defense as well as having a sizable advantage on the boards.
It may seem counterproductive with the Brunson assist under, but Hartenstein would be a direct recipient to a dump off as Brunson drives into the paint from him or any of the other slashing Knicks players. Luckily should that happen from Brunson, this prop cashing would more than cover the prop above as Hartenstein is listed as high as +1200 in some shops. That is a stark difference from +800 in other shops so always be sure to shop around for the best available odds.
