In two games since returning from his injury, Murphy has cleared this line both times while shooting 13 FGAs in those games. There is a lot to like about the volume for TMIII, especially because a solid chunk of those are 3PAs (nine per game), and he is an elite shooter from deep.
Even more encouraging for Murphy and his betting backers has been his rapid increase in minutes; he played 22 minutes in his first game back and then 30 minutes in the last game. If Murphy plays 30 or more minutes like last game, there is a lot to love here.
As far as Murphy’s matchup against the Lakers defense, they have allowed opponents to shoot 36.5% from behind the arc, including 48% to the Suns in their last outing. Further, Los Angeles allows the sixth-most three-pointers to opposing small forwards, which is where Murphy will play the majority of his minutes.
Murphy’s betting lines will eventually settle at a reasonable number, but for now, they are simply too low.
Leg 2: Zion Williamson Over 4.5 Assists (-145)
The biggest progression in Zion Williamson’s game from the past few seasons to this season has undoubtedly been his playmaking; he is averaging 4.9 assists per game this year, which is substantially better than the 2.1 apg that he averaged in his rookie season.
Recently, Williamson has been even better at creating for others and utilizing his size and passing vision to put his teammates in great positions to score. As a matter of fact, Zion has recorded at least five assists in nine of his past ten games. The implied probability from these odds (-145) is 59.18%, but he has a hit rate of 90% in the last ten games.
Further, Zion has hit the Over on this line in his past two games against the Los Angeles Lakers. Expect Williamson to put together a terrific all-around game in this spot as the betting line for his assist prop continues to try to find stability.
