Philadelphia Flyers Vs. New York Islanders Picks & Prediction

Philadelphia is scoring 2.5 goals per game, which is 27th in the league.  Defensively they’re allowing 3.3 goals per game, ranked 24th overall and allowing 34.3 shots per game, 29th overall.  New York is scoring 2.3 goals per game, ranking them 29th in the NHL.  On the defensive side, they’re allowing 2.6 goals per game which ranks fifth in the league.

In the late 70’s and early 80’s this was one of the most heated rivalries in NHL, as both teams battled for league supremacy.  The Islanders defeated the Flyers in the 1980 Stanley Cup Finals in which New York captured their first of four straight Stanley Cups, but now this game is a battle to stay out of the cellar in the Metropolitan Division.  Amazing how times have certainly changed.  I’m taking the Islanders to win at home with the teams scoring under 5.5 goals combined.
