Phoenix Suns vs. Golden State Warriors Matchup Preview (3/30/22)
What was once a matchup between the two best teams in the Western Conference has evolved into a matchup between the best team and one of the coldest teams. Phoenix will travel to San Francisco for a bout with the Golden State Warriors, who will likely be without Steph Curry once again. Without Curry, the Warriors have dropped six of their past seven games and are showing no signs of hope on either end of the floor. They have had several losses during that period that have been inexplicable, including the Washington Wizards, Orlando Magic, and San Antonio Spurs. The Warriors could always turn it around, especially if they get everyone healthy by the time the playoffs start!
There is a different story going on in Phoenix right now; it was able to still win the majority of its games during the time Chris Paul was out. Now that Paul is back, the Suns are near complete health, except Cameron Johnson, who should return well before the playoffs. Phoenix has won eight straight games and looks like the most unbeatable team in the NBA. Below, I cover all of the potential outcomes for this game and which I see most likely, so check the rest of the article out!
Phoenix Suns vs. Golden State Warriors Betting Odds
Based on how the Golden State Warriors have played recently, I see no way that I could back them in this matchup. The most impressive thing about the Phoenix Suns is their road record of 30-6. It is scarce for an NBA team to be that strong on the road, but Phoenix is undoubtedly one of those teams. I will keep my eye on the spread, but as of right now, I will favor the Phoenix Suns on the road against the spread versus this Golden State Warriors team that can’t seem to do anything right at the moment.

Phoenix Suns Starting Lineup

Phoenix Suns Analysis
Phoenix has won eight straight games, with its past three coming against competitive opponents, including the Philadelphia 76ers, Denver Nuggets, and Minnesota Timberwolves. The return of Chris Paul has only exponentiated the Suns’ dominance against the rest of the NBA and inadvertently gave players like Cam Payne more experience and valuable minutes. As I have said all season long, Phoenix embraces the “next man up” culture as well as any team in the NBA this season, and it has paid dividends. Once Cameron Johnson returns, this team will, without a doubt, be the most challenging “out” in the playoffs and a championship favorite.
Golden State Warriors Starting Lineup
PG: Jordan Poole
SG: Klay Thompson
SF: Andrew Wiggins
PF: Draymond Green
C: Kevon Looney
Golden State Warriors Analysis
Who would have thought that the Golden State Warriors would plummet after such a dominant start to the 2021-22 NBA season as they have? If they are not careful, they could fall as far as sixth place if Steph Curry does not return and this team continues to play uninspired basketball. In their past seven games, they have gone 1-6, and Curry’s lingering ankle injury is something to be very concerned about if you are a Warriors fan. Curry has dealt with ankle injuries his entire career and seemed to have it all under control until Marcus Smart inadvertently landed on his leg after diving for a loose ball. Every game still matters for Golden State, so don’t expect too many rest games for these guys. However, I would not be shocked if the Warriors punt this game; it will be hard to beat the best team in the NBA without your best player, even if it is on your home floor.
Phoenix Suns vs. Golden State Warriors Daily Fantasy Picks
Chris Paul is back from a finger injury that caused him to miss multiple weeks and is looking as good as before! In his two games since returning from injury, Paul has averaged 18 points, 13.5 assists, four rebounds, one steal, and one block per game, all of which are at or above his season averages. Paul is imperative to this offense, and even though the Suns were able to survive without him temporarily, he has to be healthy for them to win an NBA Championship this season. Additionally, this matchup with the Warriors should bode well for Paul. Golden State has struggled mightily without Steph Curry, going 1-6 in its past seven games; he injured his ankle in a loose ball play with Marcus Smart. Paul should be able to abuse this Warriors defense that just gave up 123 points in back-to-back games against the Washington Wizards and Memphis Grizzlies, who were without Ja Morant.
Few players in the NBA are hotter than Jordan Poole is right now, regardless of the Warriors’ struggles in the past few months. Poole is a 20+ point machine who is breaking out right in front of our eyes. In his past 14 games, Poole has posted roughly 26 points, five assists, and four rebounds per game on a spectacular 50/45/90 shooting split. It is even more amazing to consider that in those 14 games, Poole started only ten of them! Poole should continue to garner starts as long as Steph Curry is unable to play due to an ankle injury, and this game is no different. Phoenix has a solid defense, but it is not strong enough to hold down Poole right now, and we have even seen that play out for us this season. In a game earlier in the season, Poole dropped a smooth 28 points on Phoenix in Footprint; he is more than capable of doing that again!
