Pittsburgh Steelers Analysis
The Steelers look like a real powerhouse in the NFL at the moment. Everything is going right. Every defensive metric is off the charts, the offense is efficient, and everyone looks happy. However, this is by far their biggest test of the season, taking on the undefeated Titans. This is the week where we find out if the Steelers are serious AFC favorites, or if the team is vulnerable against the upper-echelon tier of NFL squads.
The first order of business is to discuss Ben Roethlisberger and his army of WRs. Chase Claypool looks to be one of the best WRs, let alone rookie WRs, in the NFL. He is doing nothing other than dominating everyone that he goes up against. The Titans do not have a CB that can cover Claypool and he will require safety help. That is a terrifying thought for the Titans because the Steelers still have JuJu Smith-Shuster, Diontae Johnson, and James Washington that you have to worry about. Roethlisberger will have WRs open all over the field. His offensive line just needs to give him time and he needs to hit the throws.
James Conner has been great so far this season. Despite the line letting him down on a lot of his runs, he has managed to be efficient, touting almost 5 yards per carry. With talent all over this Titans team, despite their bad defensive numbers, they are still a tough team to gameplan for. If Conner can get going in this game, then WRs for Pittsburgh will be flying all over the field deep for TDs. Conner can unlock this Titans’ defense and it is a key to the game.
The Steelers’ defense is terrifying. Plain and simple. We will be seeing a battle of two powerhouses, the rush stopping ability of the Steelers’ defense against the “Titan” Derrick Henry. If the Steelers win here, then this is a huge step on the way to a victory. However, letting Henry get going and allowing Tannehill to use play-action to hit A.J. Brown and Corey Davis over the middle, could see this defense unfold.
TJ Watt will be the man to watch in this game. If he can seal the edge on Henry and get pressure on Tannehill, against a backup LT, then the Steelers most likely take this game. His performance can dictate the entire feeling of this game when the Titans have the ball. Look out for Watt to make a play.

Tennessee Titans Analysis
Ryan Tannehill may be an MVP candidate. Yes, Wilson is having an amazing year and is the clear lead. However, Tannehill is really not that far behind. 13 touchdowns, 1300 passing yards, and a 70% completion percentage, what else could you ask from your QB through 5 weeks? The fact that Tannehill is playing this well, with Derrick Henry being the scariest part of this offense, makes the Titans an SB contender in it of itself, regardless of how the defense plays.
In this matchup, Tannehill will have to utilize play-action or get the ball out quickly to avoid the lethal pass rush of the Steelers. Jonnu Smith may not play, which is a pretty big blow to Tannehill, as he is the main short-pass option. However, Anthony Firkse seems to have stepped up nicely as the backup TE. A.J. Brown will get open in this game, the Steelers cannot cover him, and it will all come down to keeping Tannehill clean enough to get Brown the ball. Having Corey Davis back alongside Adam Humphries will also help in giving Tannehill a couple of more reliable weapons to pass to.
Speaking to the defense for the Titans they will have their hands full. Currently, Tennessee has the 22nd ranked defense according to DVOA, they have let up the 8th most net yards per passing attempt, and 4th most yards per rushing attempt. Despite all the name brand talent on this squad, they have underperformed and I have trouble figuring out how they will stop the Steelers.
When it comes down to it, this secondary will not be able to handle the Steelers’ WRs. I believe that it will come down to Clowney, Simmons, Landry, and company to get pressure on Roethlisberger and eliminate the opportunity to hit WRs out deep. It would also go a long way if they were able to pull together a good day in terms of rush defense. Forcing Roethlisberger into passing downs will make it a lot easier to get to him.

I believe that this game will turn into a shootout, but a shootout that ultimately sees the Pittsburgh defense making a play or stop to win the game. This Titans’ defense is primed to get burned all over the field. Meanwhile, the Steelers’ defense and Titans’ offense is pretty evenly matched. I see a world where Tennessee can get going and keep up for some of this game, but not enough to take it. It might even be in the later parts of the game when Henry gets going against a tired defense, that they mount their comeback, but again, I do not think that they win.
I think that the Steelers take this one 31-28

Daily Fantasy Picks
James Conner at $6,700 is a great play and value for both GPP and cash. The Titans’ defense is not good against the run, even though on paper it should be, but week after week they are burned by the opposing RBs. James Conner should have himself a great week as the defense will need to focus on the quartet of WR threats that the Steelers will throw at them.
Austin Firkser at $3,000 is a top 8 TE on the week if Smith does not play. He showed that he can handle a large load of targets and he gained over 100 yards in the game against Houston, after Jonnu Smith went out. If Smith is out, for me, Firkser is an absolute must play in both GPP and Cash.
Diontae Johnson at $4,200 is a monstrous value. One of the best bangs for your bucks on the week, Johnson should be 100% healthy for the game. If he is healthy, then he once again returns to be the #1 on this team. Johnson will get plenty of targets on the outside with Claypool lined up on the opposite side and JuJu in the slot. Johnson is one of the best WRs in this league when it comes to getting separation. He was on his way to stardom before injuries have derailed his past few games. Take a chance on him in GPP. It will pay off.
