Don’t forget about the defense either with our full defense fantasy football rankings. Our information is some of the best in the industry and we invite you to take a look for free.
While it may not be the most exciting game on the slate for Week 1, there is a lot of offense projected and some storylines to follow. We get to see Bruce Arians and a talented Buccaneers offense kick off things at home against a bad defense. Jimmy Garoppolo is also back and healthy, which we have yet to see a true sample size for him as a starting quarterback. He also gets a bad defense. New faces like Tevin Coleman will draw the start, and see a familiar opponent. Vegas expects this to be a close game, and also fairly high scoring. Keep an eye on this one late, or at least on the red zone channel. It will be fun for fantasy, and should have some late game drama. San Francisco 49ers Analysis
We have been following the 49ers over the offseason, as they are trying to build their offense for the future. Jerick McKinnon’s continuous setbacks means that Tevin Coleman and Matt Breida will carry the workload between the two of them. This does clear up what could have been a tricky fantasy situation, but Breida has looked like the better back overall. Both have the ability to work in the passing game, and under Kyle Shanahan, both should be used enough to have standalone value. This offensive line has some upside this season, but also rank inside the bottom half.
The receiving options have been followed closely, as we tried to project who the primary pass-catchers will be this year. Dante Pettis has received a lot of buzz, but has also had some comments that suggest he won’t be a full blown WR1. In Week 1 he should still garnish some attention, but Marquise Goodwin and Deebo Samuel will also get snaps and targets. Given the injuries to Hurd and Taylor, the line has been dwindled for getting onto the field. This is also of course behind George Kittle, who is the stud target in the passing game.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Analysis
There is a lot of hype around the Buccaneers offense, as Bruce Arians steps in. He has ran some successful offenses in his time, and the weapons are in place already. Chris Godwin and OJ Howard both are finally in a full-time role, and we couldn’t be more excited. Of course this offensive line will have to hold their weight, and Jameis Winston needs to be consistent, but the pieces are in place for a big offensive year. The hype around Mike Evans has been a bit quiet because of the other names popping up. San Francisco ranked as the 27th pass defense last season, and should still be an exploitable defense for opposing offenses.
Ronald Jones failed to make any noise in his rookie season, as Peyton Barber became the work horse back. Arians has shown trust in Jones and is trying to build his confidence. There is no doubt Jones has struggled in deserving any sort of playing time. We expect Barber to still get a majority of the work, but don’t be surprised to see Jones get some run at times. The 49ers rush defense wasn’t bad last year, but still posted league average numbers.

Betting Pick: Even
With this game being a pick’em, the Lineups Bet Predictor is siding more with the 49ers taking a win on the road. Not by much, as the win probability is at 52%. I have the Buccaneers as a moneyline pick within my betting picks for Week 1, and stand by it. This offense should put up points in the opening week here, and I am not completely sold on the 49ers keeping up with them. Lineups is also leaning towards the over here, and with these two defenses, I can understand why. This is one of the few toss ups for Week 1, and public money is fairly split too.
Daily Fantasy: A Popular Game To Target
Because of the easy to identify bad defenses, this game will have a solid amount of ownership built around it. Chris Godwin is not priced up yet around the industry, and should be a popular play against a defense that ranked 26th against WR2s. San Francisco also ranked just 19th against WR1s and 21st against TEs. We are looking at all the TB receiving options in fantasy this week. The running backs won’t be in play on the Tampa Bay side, and likely won’t be for most of the year. The other side of this game is also enticing from a value standpoint. The 49ers offense is in a good spot at home, as TB ranked 29th against both WR1s and WR2s last season. They also ranked 16th against pass-catching backs. Matt Breida is a strong value and Tevin Coleman is in play as well. The primary pass-catcher for SF is George Kittle, and TB ranked 28th against TEs last season.
