San Francisco 49ers Analysis

San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers are 5-6 and are last in the NFC West division. They are trying to make their way back to receive a wild card spot. Luckily for them, if the Rams beat the Cardinals this weekend and the 49ers win, they will be closing in on both the Rams and the Cardinals for a wild card spot. Last week, the 49ers secured an impressive win over the Los Angeles Rams.

Nick Mullens has been stepping up big for the 49ers’ offense, and it is paying off. Last week, Mullens threw for 252 yards and one interception. He has been doing enough for the 49ers to keep the run game open, which is the most important part. Not to mention, last week, he connected with Deebo Samuel 11 times for 133 yards. The Bills have big names on their defense, and as a whole, they allow the 10th least amount of passing touchdowns and produce 2.7 sacks per game.

The 49ers are a heavy rushing team, as we know, and will be targeting the Bills’ poor rushing defense. As a team, they are above average in attempts, yards and rank fourth in rushing touchdowns on the year. They have rotated through five different running backs this season, but Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson hold the lead in the backfield at the moment. Last week, Raheem put up a 16-43-1 line against the Rams’ extremely difficult run defense, while Wilson put up 12-40.

The 49ers’ defense has been pretty solid, even with the loss of Nick Bosa early on in the season. They allow just 23.1 points per game and 315.2 yards per game to opponents, which ranks sixth in the NFL. The Bills have a very productive passing and rushing offense, with Josh Allen at the heart of both. The 49ers’ pass rush has not been excellent this year, but if they can get to Allen, they will have a better shot at winning.

Buffalo Bills Analysis

Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills are coming off of a solid win over the Los Angeles Chargers last week, making their record 8-3 in the AFC East. The Bills are only one win above the Miami Dolphins, so they will need to keep winning to guarantee themselves a spot in the AFC playoff picture. Josh Allen was a bit sloppy last week with two turnovers, so he will have to tighten up his game if he wants to come out with a win.

Josh Allen has been the leader of this team’s offense and shining this season. Allen is ranked 7th in yards and completion percentage and 10th in touchdowns. Last week, however, he only threw for 157 yards and one touchdown. But, he ran for an additional 32 yards and another touchdown. Stefon Diggs has been an added help this season, ranking second in catches and sixth in yards for the Bills. The 49ers’ defense will be a challenge for the Bills’ offense. The 49ers’ defense allows the fourth least amount of passing yards per game to opposing teams this season.

The Bills’ rushing offense has been driven by a committee of Devin Singletary, Zack Moss, and Josh Allen. In the second half of the season, it seemed like Zack Moss might be the lead due to his increase of touches. However, last week Singletary got two more touches than Moss. As a team, the Bills run the ball one of the least amounts in the NFL. San Francisco has a tremendous rushing defense that ranks in the top ten for least amount of rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, and yards per attempt allowed to opponents this season.

Defensively for the Bills, they have many big names on their side to help them. Last week, Tre’Davious White made a late, game-saving interception to seal a field goal for the Bills and win the game. Jordan Poyer is tied for the 11th most tackles in the NFL as one of the better safeties in the league. The Bills’ defense will need to focus hard on defending the run, as they allow the third-most rushing touchdowns on the year and around 130 rushing yards allowed per game. The 49ers love to run the ball more than pass it, so they will try to take advantage.

Betting Corner

Spread: +/- 1
Moneyline: 49ers +112, Bills -136
Over/Under: 47

Prediction

Spread: Bills -1
Moneyline: Bills -136
Over/Under: u47

The Buffalo Bills clearly have the better offense and enough defense to withstand the 49ers’ defense, in my opinion. This game will be really close, but I see the Bills coming out with a win in this one. For the spread, the Bills are 3-1 on spreads between 0 and -3. I would choose the Bills to win and, by default, cover the spread.

This could be a wildly defensive game between two fairly strong defenses. Both of these teams have seen losing records against the over/under that is above 46.1, so I would choose the under.

Love/Hate Fantasy Picks

Love

Deebo Samuel had a monster game last week with 11 catches for 133 yards against the Los Angeles Rams. He got 13 targets from Nick Mullens in the game to lead teh 49ers’ receivers by seven targets. If he continues to be Mullens’ favorite receiver, he should have a great game next week. Putting up 24.3 fantasy points on the league’s best fantasy passing defense is big time for Samuel. Deebo has projected 13.8 fantasy points for next week’s game against the Bills.

Hate

Zack Moss was believed to be the lead back for the Bills after getting 14 touches in week 8, but the fantasy football community and I were sorely mistaken. Devin Singletary and Josh Allen eat a lot of touches from Zack Moss, and he has not seen a double-digit point fantasy game since week 9 against the Seattle Seahawks. Plus, the San Francisco 49ers have allowed the seventh least amount of fantasy points to running backs on the season, making Zack Moss a bad option for fantasy this weekend.
