TCU Vs. Seton Hall Odds, Picks, and Predictions (3/18/22)
Contents
The heat of March Madness is burning up as day two of round one is underway, with the matchup between the TCU Horned Frogs and the Seton Hall Pirates is ready to go live. These two teams are the #9 and #8 seed in the south region of the tournament bracket. Both of these teams were playing in competitive conferences that tested their abilities as a team. Seton Hall is given the slightly higher seeding by a margin, but many people are picking the TCU upset in this game. They are playing at Viejas Arena in San Diego, California, this Friday, March 18th. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:57 PM PT and can be watched on TruTV.
TCU vs. Seton Hall Betting Odds
Since these teams are fairly evenly matched, the spread is marginally close. Seton Hall has the better seed, so they have the slight favor of -1 (-110), leaving TCU with +1 (-110). This game is going to be one of the closest matchups we will see on Friday. Out of all of the games we’ll see in March Madness, this game is the first-round match that I feel the least confident about. TCU has proven their abilities against some of the top teams in the nation and have been successful at home and on the road. Seton Hall has the height advantage that will challenge the Horned Frogs’ ability under the basket, so the spread could land either way. In the end, I think TCU will be able to get ahead at the beginning of the game, but it’ll stay close throughout the duration of the match.
My Prediction: TCU Wins 67-65, TCU Covers
TCU Odds
The TCU Horned Frogs are the #9 seed of this year’s March Madness tournament in the south region. They are playing the #8 seed, the Seton Hall Pirates and are one of the few teams expected to win as a lower seed. It’s not a shock due to the heightened play by this TCU offense. They went 20-12, taking down five of their six top 25 opponents. In the Big 12, they played against top teams, where six in the conference made the tournament and finished fifth in the conference. This teams’ offensive ability is rather impressive with their knowledge of the court and IQ to make proper cuts in the backcourt. Mike Miles leads the team with 15 points per game, shooting 38.4% from the field. With the help of Damion Baugh, who sinks 10.7 points per game and shoots 43% from the field, this team can spread any offense and drive to the basket.
Seton Hall Odds
The Seton Hall Pirates are entering their 14th ever March Madness appearance. This team ended their regular season 21-10 and a fifth place in the Big East. They’ve gone 3-6 against top 25 teams and score an average of 72.9 points per game. This team has a fantastic perimeter offense, shooting 34% from beyond the three-point line as a team. Myles Cale and Bryce Aiken help contribute to the deep shots by shooting around 35% from the deep field. The Pirates had some difficulties in the latter part of their regular season, but the paint defense of the Pirates kept them afloat. This team is the fifth tallest team in the country, so TCU will need to make space between their ball and defenders to make shots. This team can use their height to stir up trouble for the Horned Frogs, but this game will fall to the best defensive team.
TCU vs. Seton Hall Picks & Prediction
As this game gets closer, I still believe this is a match to avoid betting. They’re evenly skilled with opportunities to take the game either way. There are plenty of other games that will be more predictable to make proper bets and would be worth the time. If anything, I think the TCU moneyline will be the way to go and take the underdog in this matchup.
