Jusuf Nurkic won’t hoard touches with Devin Booker and Kevin Durant on the roster, but he’s efficient with the basketball. Nurkic posted a 51.9 FG% and 36.1 3PT% last season, and the “Bosnian Beast” owns a good matchup here. Kevon Looney is undersized, so Nurkic can get his shots off without worrying too much about being blocked. Phoenix’s elite three-point shooters mean Golden State cannot help inside too. Therefore, Nurkic can initiate a few of his beloved post ups and score via avenue as well. 

Nurkic can also secure opportunistic points on the glass through offensive rebounding, which grants him easy points. He likely scores four to six points alone via put-backs, which would mean Nurkic needs just a few baskets to reach ten points. Finally, Golden State led the NBA in pace last year, and Phoenix is willing to run. More possessions equals more scoring opportunities for Nurkic. Plus, with Beal out, the Suns will need Nurkic to get going here.

It won’t be easy for Thompson to create space against the Suns forward, which once again limits his volume.
