Top 9 Fantasy Football Defense Rankings for Week 10

Week ten will be the hardest for fantasy owners trying to find the perfect defense to start this week. All the elite fantasy defenses such as the 49ers, Steelers, Panthers, and Panthers all have extremely unfavorable matchups against some of the most productive offenses. Furthermore, the NFL’s best fantasy defense, the New England Patriots, have a bye week. As a result, this is likely to be one of the worst weeks for fantasy defenses. Although, there are a few fantasy gems that you can find in my rankings below.

1. Baltimore Ravens

Opponent: Cincinnati Bengals
Baltimore RavensThis choice is one of the only easy fantasy picks for week ten. The Ravens have held their last three opponents below 20 points, and head into this game against a Bengals offense that has failed to score 20 points in their three games. With rookie QB, Ryan Finley, penciled to make his first game of the season, the Bengals will look to take the pressure off of him by leaning on RB Joe Mixon and the running game. However, the Ravens are limiting opponents to the second-fewest rushing yards per game, so look for the Ravens to have much success this Sunday.

2. Bills

Opponent: Cleveland Browns
Buffalo BillsAccording to Yahoo Fantasy Football Browns quarterback, Baker Mayfield has a 67.8 passer rating, which is the lowest amongst qualified QBs this season. The Bills have limited QBs to the third-lowest passer rating and are restricting opposing offenses to the third-lowest total and passing yards this season. The Browns are tied for first in the league in terms of interceptions this season, averaging 1.25 picks a game. Due to the dysfunctional Browns offense, this is one of the safer picks in week ten.

3. Indianapolis Colts

Opponent: Miami Dolphins
Indianpolis ColtsLast week I promised myself that I would stop choosing defenses solely based on the fact that they’re playing the Dolphins. However, week ten looks matchup to be extremely favorable for Colts‘ D fantasy owners. The Dolphins are currently the third lowest-scoring offense in the league, and signal-caller Ryan Fitzpatrick has the fifth-lowest passer rating in the red zone. The Dolphins’ struggles scoring touchdowns will be exacerbated against a Colts defense that is limiting quarterbacks to the seventh-lowest passer rating in the red-zone. The Colts are ranked 8th in terms of time of possession. Therefore, they are likely to keep the Dolphins from finding the end zone much in week ten.

4. New York Giants

Opponent: New York Jets
New York GiantsThis Giants defense is purely on this list because of the New York Jets’ complete inability to be productive on offense. The Jets are last in the NFL in terms of total yards passing yards and points per game. Even with a star running back like Le’Veon Bell, this Jets team is also a bottom three rushing attack as well. The Jets are tied for the most interceptions in the league, which is excellent for a Giants defense that is tied for accumulating the sixth-most interceptions in the league.

5. Los Angeles Rams

Opponent: Pittsburgh Steelers
los angeles ramsThis year, the Rams have ranked as a top ten fantasy defense due to their knack for forcing and recovering fumbles. The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently a bottom-five defense in terms of total and passing yards per game, so this fares to be a safer fantasy matchup for Fantasy owners. Steelers passer Mason Rudolph is ranked 20th in terms of passing TDs and 22nd in terms of QBR amongst all quarterbacks. Therefore, the Rams are a quality fantasy option for week ten due to the low offensive productivity of the Steelers.

6. 49ers

Opponent: Seattle Seahawks
San Francisco 49ersThis week is the first week in a while that the 49ers are not a top-three fantasy defense. Although this is because this is the Niners‘ first matchup against a top 10 QB, according to new age analytical. Russell Wilson has the best passer rating and TD: INT ratio of all qualifying passers this year. Also, San Francisco is coming off a week in which they got burnt by Kyler Murray for 241 yards and two TDs. Nevertheless, the 49ers have allowed the second-fewest points, accumulated the third-most sacks, and have the fourth most interceptions in the NFL. Therefore the 49ers defense is likely to cause some havoc for Seattle in week ten.

7. Cleveland Browns

Opponent: Buffalo Bills
Cleveland BrownsBills quarterback Josh Allen has the fifth-lowest TD: INT ratio in the NFL this season. The Bills offense has struggled this season, ranking 22nd, 23rd, and 26th in terms of points per game, total yards per game, and passing yards per game. Josh Allen’s struggles will only worsen against a Browns defense that is tied for the eighth-most sacks in the league.

8. Green Bay Packers

Opponent: Carolina Panthers
Green Bay PackersDespite the insane rushing success of Christian McCaffery, the Panthers are only ranked 22nd in terms of total yards a game. Panthers QB Kyle Allen has struggled the last two weeks, throwing four total interceptions to the 49ers and Titans. The Packers have recorded the sixth-most interceptions in the NFL, so look for them to take advantage of the young Panthers quarterbacks’ Allen’s struggles in week ten.

9. New Orleans Saints

Opponent: Atlanta Falcons
New Orleans SaintsThe Saints are a satisfactory fantasy option in week ten due to their defensive line. According to Yahoo, Falcons QB Matt Ryan is tied for the ninth most allowed sacks in the NFL, which is good news for the Saints. The Saints have the sixth-most sacks in the NFL are tied for the ninth most fumble recoveries in the league. The Falcons are giving away the ninth most fumbles in the NFL, which makes the Saints the seventh-best fantasy defense in week ten.
